Bonnette was hyped all year and this is what we got :(
Been too busy reading hype about Cîme de la Bonette du Restefond climb that, but a symptom, not only on this forum. I dunno what ppl expected with stage designs as those and present state of affairs Pogi/UAE vs. Jonas/Visma vs. Remco/QS? Nothing quite has surprised me yet, except UAE maybe fiddling a tad more than I'd expected, but still clever tactics.
Apart from that almost Gordian knot to untie for Visma, if they should have had it all with a coup and believed that Jonas could punch away from Pogi from far out up La Bonette with the two strongest riders to pull him full gas to the bottom of the final climb. That might have been the logics last year, or before Jonas' crash (or rather before we knew about Pogi's present building on his strength, stamina and awareness of staying cold on a hot day).

Visma are riding for Pig not to win the stage. The pair up front are just teeing up the Arkea guy and the Dane will blow massively.

I am reading this forum and and see that some people were expecting an attack in La Bonette? are you serious? that is suicide in the way the GC is today. Now that sounds good for my videogame but not realistic for the race.

You can't blame people.

This race has been a sort of video game until now with watts bombs all over the place so the borefest on Bonette was disappointing.

Being KoM with 2 stages to go, and nearly half your points are from one climb is just stupid.
UAE/Pog trying to eat everything makes it fairly meaningless these days? Just a matter of luck if you get it right on the few days when they let things go.

This is one of those days where the lack of long-range action has less to do with the route, and more to do with Vingegaard either being scared to attack because UAE are so much stronger than Visma, or (more probably) simply not having the legs to do so.
Yeah, I do not think his family loves him too too much today. Probably that...

The fantastic breathtaking chase of the yellow jersey group by one French hero in the Alps.

There was a brief point where he sort of "met" them coming in the opposite direction, and I was wondering if he might have been tempted to "do an Armstrong".
Though, he'd probably have been fined if he'd done that. If he didn't break his leg.
Or maybe he'd have been fined even if he'd broken his leg.

Agree, but I think UAE have played it well by not chasing hard and keeping a lot of numbers in the group. Made an attack very difficult for Vingegaard.

Plus, I think both Kelderman and Jorgensen in the break was an error. Nobody there to make it even vaguely hard for Vingegaard.

Exactly right, Vingegaard attacking might be great for us the viewers on our sofas, but from his and Vismas point of view it would be kamikaze stuff unless he is confident of dropping Pogacar. And there has been no evidence during the last 3 weeks that he is capable of doing this, least of all with him surrounded by 4 mountain doms.

Carapaz 20 points ahead of Pogacar for KOM.

Carapaz "should" win Polka dot jersey now.

they should get caught I guess at the end today.

10 points at the end today.

35 points available tomorrow. (15 in first 50km)

5 on the TT.

Pog might win today to get it back to 10...

but even still, then all Carapaz needs to do tomorrow is get in the break and get over Col du Turini first to have a ~20-25 point lead with only 25 points left.

They beat the Bonette KOM by 1:33 in the GC group and :37 in the leader’s group fwiw. Must have been pretty soft.

LOL Enric hanging for dear life on the descent. He’s gonna tire himself out from gripping his handlebars too tight.

Visma gave up winning the TDF

Good chance of winning today as the gap continues to grow. Jorgenson may be the favorite to win today
