I guess they will let DSM do some work before they take over; don't want to use Politt, Wellens and Soler too early.

Yeah waiting till it's like 10 minutes is probably not the smartest idea if you want to win the stage, so I'm guessing they simply don't care.

It’s not that they don’t care, they don’t have the team for it. Yesterday showed that. Plus factor in the heat. Auyuso was completely cooked yesterday, would be no help at all

When your 3rd best rouler is Marc Soler then the smart thing to do is let it go on stages like this and take it easy, wait for more favourable terrain (stage 4) instead of flogging your team all day for minimal gain.

If Bjerg was here it would be a different story.

Lotto, agreed.

Jayco is a different thing, as they have GC aspirations with Yates and also want to save their sprint train for tomorrow, so they are probably hesitant to dedicate the entire team to a demonstration today.

At the start of the stage, Jayco was nowhere to be seen. What they could have done was have 3 riders pace at the front of the pelaton for 10kms and release Matthews when the gap was say around 15 seconds. EF should have been in this break considering all the work they did in stage one.

If they really cared they would've tried more in the beginning to not let such a big strong break go.

To the people saying "it's over".

You may be right, but we are yet to hit the first climb of the day, so I'd hold off on making that determination.

The peleton will decide it, as always. If there are 2-3 teams willing to push the tempo, the breakaway won't make it. A single GC team may not want to burn their helpers just for a stage win (unless UAE really wants to test Vingo). All in all, I think the breakaway has a good shot to win (if the mentioned circumstances don't occur in the peleton).

I don't know what anyone is talking about, this is very entertaining, seeing the Lantern Rouge guys make bad posts about how they are cycling tactical geniuses.

Would go against the nature of the latter stages Roglic to do anthing at all, so I expect nothing as per usual from Bora and Roglic
