Cause they kinda know Van Gils can't actually win this. So they hope for way too long UAE does something or another team. If they controll all day and Van Gils gets like 8th everyone clowns them too... Now they're frustrated so they try something but it's probably too late

I'm always amazed how bad UAE are at positioning. Ineos and Visma are always there at the front, while UAE is always scattered around the peloton with only Pogačar and 1 rider with him.
