God bless Remco, he has the race IQ of a fruitfly that boy
I think Remco quite accurately assessed the situation. He is 8 minutes ahead in GC of 4th place. He has nothing to lose. The guy in front of him is 2 minutes ahead in GC but was weak the day before. Yet 2 minutes is too much to bridge in the closing TT. So he tried with nothing to lose. Better that than not try and regret it later.

Hard to please everyone. If I would be in his place I would also try to get closer to 2nd after what I saw yesterday. It turned out that Vinge is still strong enough.

Remco did not loose anything in terms of GC and he won't have any regrets for not trying.
For his sake, hopefully it is motivation. It's not like he completely blew up. Looked pretty much in control of his racing emotions on all of the mountain stages.

I too think it was worth trying, but his actions belied his words from yesterday.

That is true but I would not hold this against him. They say a lot of things during interviews sometimes because of team tactics, sometimes because they do not want to get expectations too high.

For instance Pog said in Slovenian interview today that he is not among favourites for tomorrow ITT as he will take the downhill part safe and maybe enjoy the views a little. Probably all of us know this won't happen.

Nice moment with the Intermarché riders crossing the line arm in arm as there won't be such photo opportunities tomorrow.
I missed that. I admit the time-trial final stage means we miss some of those moments of “we f&cking did it” comraderie. On the other hand we are spared the ridiculous champagne toasts on wheels! I thought that was cute the 1st time I saw it in the 90’s, but once was enough.

Absolutely. Soudal saw a broken Jonas yesterday, and they saw an opportunity to make the race hard and attack him on the final climb. That's just old-fashioned cycling tactics. As it turns out, Jonas had a bad couple of days and felt really good today. There's no way to predict that. Soudal gave it a good shot.

Another win to Pog. What else could he do after how all the others rode? He did his best not to win but was given no choice so he put Jonas back in his place in the final. To gap by 7 seconds like that on stage 20 is quite astonishing really. Incredible recovery. Still looks as fresh as a daisy. He is doing it very easy for a rider about to win the Giro Tour double.

For the rest, Vingegaard is still riding astonishingly well, he will ride a good TT, but won't match Pogacar.
A bit sad to see Remco get a reality check. But he tried. This is a big step up in level from his Vuelta win. Hopefully Remco does a good TT - maybe the win tomorrow is between him and Pog?
Almeida is the strongest super domestique (sorry Matteo).
Good to see Carapaz in the Polka. He might have won today but for Remco and Vingo's accelerations.

I really don't see why Pogi couldn't "gift" this to Vingegaard as well as he wanted to gift it to the breakaway?

That would be disrespectful to both the race and Vingegaard. It was actually Vingegaard and Remco who initiated the attacks which brought the break undone. Pogi did all he could not to win but in he end was fresh so he stomped it.
