Merijn Zeeman (DS at Visma) to HLN: "Pogacar is the best, bravo to him. We are among the lucky ones who were able to take a step, because otherwise he doesn't leave much for others. It's his choice, of course. But I don't know if that contributes to its popularity."

this is such a joke. the first rule of cycling is no gifts unless you get something out of it for yourself.

Hard to please everyone. If I would be in his place I would also try to get closer to 2nd after what I saw yesterday. It turned out that Vinge is still strong enough.

Remco did not loose anything in terms of GC and he won't have any regrets for not trying.
Totally agree with this. If he sits back and doesn't try anything then you have the idiots who will come at him with the 'no balls' thing. Can't please everyone, glad to see he tried. That said, as great as he is riding this Tour (and it's definitely a leap forward for him) he is still a very long ways off the top two. Hoping he can close that up in the coming seasons but it's a pretty big gap at the moment...

I think I prefer Pantani's version (on the way to his giro+tour double). To be fair, that day was rough.

looking at this pictures only becomes clearer why records are being broken; I mean just compare the jersey, thats like 10watts difference only there.

Can we get back to sports, where the protagonists don't cry, if they don't miss a penalty shot or just barely make the time cut ? Probably not, as it doesn't sell as well.

Why? Is this some reactionary boy's don't cry take? I honestly don't understand the problem with it. Also they are very tired, that makes it generally harder to controll emotions, even if you wanted to. I'm happy I see more people cry openly, as it's actually pretty healthy and good for the soul.

People that lack empathy are not my kind of people either.

I have a feeling that you'd be crying if you were forced to finish any mountain stage in the Tour within the time limit. Especially after 3 weeks. But it's just as easy to change the channel and return to hard-edged sports where there seldom is crying like golf....or more golf.
Maybe some more golf?

Because Jonas would probably find it offensive.

I think he said something to the extent that he kinda hoped Pogi would gift him the stage, but would have done the same as Pogacar did in his place.
So I don't think he would have been offended. But I think it's also strange to expect Pogacar not to contest the stage just because he already won a lot. No one ever makes this argument for sprinters, ever.

Funny.
At first I read the two quotes as in context, just as if the riders no longer wanted to hear more BS from their DS. Or as failing transponders and throw them away as in a Ganna ITT moment.

You can't deny Zeeman's reaction is the very definition of a sore loser. It's only in defeat you really learn if people have class or not. Vingegaard does. Zeeman clearly doesn't.
Anyway, he's off running a football club next year so we won't be bothered by him anymore.
Were framing truthful as being a sore loser now

What happened to " hurr durr he says it like it is"
