beyond what would be respectful to the race, to the fans, to Vingegaard's efforts, etc, I think the main takeaway is the fact that this was hilarious
I think I prefer Pantani's version (on the way to his giro+tour double). To be fair, that day was rough.
Well, if they see it that way, fair play. But with Vingegaards way into this tour, I'd say it could be very deserved as well. Why not give some extra pulls then, that's true respect (and balls apparently)?Gifting a stage to a two time tour champion is more disrespectful than demolishing him on the line. Both Tadeij and Jonas knew that.
Guilty as charged. ... I was trying to be funny. Good thing I don't do standup for a living.I will allow that I'm missing something, but surely people are joking when they say that?
Always good in the third week, a proper GT rider.Jonas find some legs today.
Slow motion battleIt is a crime against humanity that we never got to witness Richie Carapaz v Enric Mas for a Tour stage win, the last few kms would have been historic, legendary
Mowing him down and then saying he wanted him to win….sure, Pogi, sureI still maintain mowing down Giulio Pellizzari for your 5th stage win when you're 7 minutes ahead in GC was clown behaviour, but gifting a stage to a 2x tdf champ here would almost seem disrespectful, it's a question of context.
Vingegaard stupidly forced Pogi to the front with 500 m to go. Had he just kept going, it's not unfathomable that Pogi would have stayed behind à la Indurain (maybe 5 % chance). In any case, it'd have looked better to lose after dragging Pogi the entire way.He can just not have his team control the breakaway? He can also not contest tje sprint
Well, they did basically 0 work in the last 2 climbs and it was clear that "someone" refers to a breakaway guy, not Jonas. You are going to *** on him whether he wins by 2 minutes or sprints away, it obviously does not matter to youThen just drop him for all i care if youre that much better
dont give the fake gracious " someone else can win speech" before you have your team keep the breakaway at 4 minutes and just mug your opppnent at the line. Saying that wheelsucking and then winning the sprint is respectful is just mental gymnastics
Had Pogi helped Jonas, Remco would have been distanced by another 30 seconds.Vingegaard stupidly forced Pogi to the front with 500 m to go. Enric Mas, winning???by doing no work, riding wheels, and winning the stage Tadej Pogacar was simply doing a tribute to the riding style of Enric Mas, beautiful, 1 like = 1 respect
He said afterwards that he hoped a bit that the stage would be uncontested. But for that, Pogi would be forced to make the gift over the top obvious. All blame is on Vingegaard here.Vingegaard is a 2-time defending tour champ. He doesn't need pity wins, and wouldn't want such either.
Jonas wanted more time to Remco. He said afterwards that he hoped a bit that the stage would be uncontested. But for that, Pogi would be forced to make the gift over the top obvious. All blame is on Vingegaard here.
I'm reading between the lines here but what you're saying is well done, Remco on securing the podium. I get it, you don't want to come on too strong and that is a good thing.Wow for all the talk about how strong Remco is, he’s EIGHT minutes back from Pogacar and 3 minutes back from Vingegaard, who spent 12 days in the hospital in April. He still has a ways to go to get there…

PatheticOf course I can't help being accused of Bias due to being Danish, but I really don't see why Pogi couldn't "gift" this to Vingegaard as well as he wanted to gift it to the breakaway? Yes, he is/was clearly strongest, but when the strongest rider wheelsuck (don't like the term, but that's the majority vote) for that long, it would in my book be considered more generous to let another win. I would've thought the same if he arrived with Remco.

Tadej would've interfered in Jonas/Remco battle for second then.Of course I can't help being accused of Bias due to being Danish, but I really don't see why Pogi couldn't "gift" this to Vingegaard as well as he wanted to gift it to the breakaway? he should have crossed the line while doing a peter sagan wheelieI actually wanted Pog to visibly, ostensibly & almost insultingly gift Vingegaard the stage... just to read Red Rick's reaction.
Still, a fifth stage win & a possible 6th tomorrow remains quite meltdown-worthy so I guess it'll have to do.
Ok, except Red Rick apparently..I don't see many people here complaining. I think the majority here has the same point of view.
