If there's no chance of a win, teams are not happy anymore to just get the TV time out front (unless riders are not sure of a contract for next year - making themselves "visible").

The reality is there is less than 5% chance for a break to win, however, if the stage was shorter then you provide more incentive.

Surely the tour director must be on the phone to the invited teams.
To get invited, you would think they would promise to be in the break on days like this.

There are two invited teams Uno X and Total Direct Energies. They have been active in the first two stages. Uno X have the points and KOM jersey and finished 2nd in a stage while TDE have been in the breaks. There are no incentives for them to get in the break in today's stage.

I don't think he cares, and I don't think Vingegaard cares either - irrespecitive of yellow, their teams will ride the exact same way tomorrow.

Soudal and EF may want the jersey, because it may be the only time this Tour they have it, and neither captain has had it before.

But EF are the only ones I can see investing in getting it, by doing some dumb *** like letting Carapaz take part in tbe bunch sprint.
