I only count two time trials in the map posted by La Flamme Rouge. Caen and the 150 k time trial on stage 20, lol.
With that said, it does seem like this route could be friendly to Jonas, Pog and Remco. It might be so soft it tempts the top two into trying the double while making Remco think he has a shot against a tired pog and Jonas, especially if that last time trial happens and is long. It’s just that a 50 k time trial goes against everything the powers that run these things seem to believe in..

Oh it will definitely be a 50+ one, even 100+ cause Nantua and Pontarlier are not close to eachother at all. So these rumors are definitely correct!!!

I realize that, but it wouldn’t shock me if the Tour was allowed to break the rule as an “experiment”
They could do a pursuit mountain TT. That would be fun. It would need to be early ish in the race though.

That or we can also see the 28 km big climb. Just finishing at the top this time instead of going to the altiport. I’m not aware if there’s a difference with the final four km though.
I know. It’s a freaking crime.
Also wondered about that. Especially with the stage 20 TT. It’s just rumors though. Also, I think they just forgot to put that the Peyragudes stage is a MTT.

They should make stage 21 a pursuit race to decide the GC, it would have been Valverde fans‘ wet dream when he used to race. (He would still G2 syndrome his group into oblivion instead of catching Froome or whomever).

Could be they got a few of the start/finish locations mixed around.
These stages make much more sense with what else we’ve heard for example:
Muret -> Superbagneres
Loudenvielle -> Peyragudes
Pau -> Hautacam
yeah, in 2023 they did the 1997, 2000, and 2005 Courchervel climb until the mid climb detour to the Loze
the altiport, however, was an uphill finish at 1.1km at ~11%.
Vingo kind of blew up in that final km after he went all out on the Loze. Pog was barely able to get up that final climb Kind of like that finish as it forces people to measure their efforts on the Loze else they could lose a minute on the final km

200 km of TT and only 3 mountain stages without opportunity for a long range attack.

Can't wait for 2026 already... garbage route, very backloaded, probably not a stage designed to provide long range attacks. This route is looking too good for Pogacar against Vingegaard. Only a week of real mountains (third week).

Do people know how reliable this source is? Since velowire hasn't changed anything about their prediction I checked the link in the tweet and they write their proposed route is based on a mixture of rumours from regional media and their own sources, which makes me doubt they are more reliable than velowire (who are basically doing the same thing but they have a history of being quite good at it). Not that it makes that much of a difference, their proposed routes are quite similar after all, but I'd really prefer one HC mtf less and Alp d'Huez instead of a wasted edition of Col de la Loze.
Except for a route of 21 flat or ITT stages, any route is gonna be Pog v Jonas.
Well, though you will get better routes than what is rumoured next year, the Tour almost never provide really good routes with several stages designed for long range attacks. It will be about MTFs at Hautacam, Peyragudes, Plataeu de Beille, Alpe d'Huez, Granon, La Plagne and other. The best one could hope for is a better first week with more hilly and GC relevant stages, and mountain stages with somewhat better combos than what's rumoured next year.

Tour 2022-2024 had good routes. Too many sprint stages but still very good. Maybe a little backloaded this year

The riders well down the rankings coming in several hours after the winner is not a good look.

They could do like in 2017 and limit the number of riders participating in the pursuit.

They can start in a wave at thirty minutes or something or, if you‘d just nuke the GC times (a bit silly), hold a separate sprint race.
