Thanks: I can think of that now.Perhaps La Course? That was a disaster though...
Perhaps a 100km+ route could be good..? Preferably in a race where the gaps are much shorter, so a 1 weeker. Having top domestiques would be massive...Thanks: I can think of that now.
No, I'd rather not. A time trial for most, but with no interest once the first rider finished, and no reward or incentive for a good TTer who is not in a high position, and no stage result. No thanks.
I'm starting to hope for a super long TT on stage 20...no stage 20 ITT?
I'm starting to hope for a super long TT on stage 20...
Imagine the scenes, though. Pogacar way ahead on his own. Remco, Jonas, Primoz, and three UAE doms TTT behind. It would be a 3rd TT if the rumours re the other two TTs are true so would go against the recent trend. When was the last time the tour had 3TTs (excluding a prologue/TTT like 2012/2013 as the additional TT)
Still freaking irks me that there are 6 weekend stages and NOT A SINGLE ONE IS A MOUNTAIN STAGE. 5 flat sprint stages and 1 non-GC stage for the break (maybe).
Probably not even that.
this route is fine if they make some of the mountain stages 220k monsters
but they wont
The Pyrenees in general are completely wack. Probably not as ridiculous as in the tweet, but they'll still asterisk asterisk.yeah on second thought putting the mountain TT after two mountain stages is hilariously bad.
not with the lack of TTs
Unless stage 20 is a 60km ITT and stage 5 is a 40km ITT
But we have Thierry Gouvenou ruining the tour, so that will never happen
you can still have monster mountain stages with less TT. there hasn't been an actually balanced route in over a decade and we're never going to see that amount of TT at the Tour again.
I don't know if stages like that are that important. The top guys are immune to the fatigue. Plateau de beille was thermonuclear w/kg for everybody, after a hard stage.Probably not even that.
I wouldnt say never.
The giro returned to a classic route last year.
The issue is Gouvenou. We need a new race director. Prudhomme needs to do his job as general cycling director for ASO (that is his actual title, https://inrng.com/2024/07/the-top-job/ he oversees all cycling for ASO) and put in place good race directors, not Tweedle Dee (Gouvenou) and Tweedle Dumb (Guillen)
the Giro route was not "classic" at all, it was a travesty with barely any mountains
how long have you watched cycling for?
It was a course from 20-40 years ago. In other words, a classic course.
Classic does not mean it is the world climbing championships
Yea can we plase get the 15 flat stage TdF routes back?
Wasnt many of the flat stages longer though?I believe by hard racing on flat you mean "riders suffering from severe detraining effects by the 2nd week?"
Wasnt many of the flat stages longer though?
Like a couple +230km and a few +200 km.
