Half the people making the sick comments are mocking the others

Supposedly, he looks bad, and they've seen him breathing with difficulty.

I'm not that good at interpreting faces and breathing.

A majority of riders in this large break have won GC stages, very high level competition for this sort of thing nowadays. I remember Steven Williams last year saying he was getting in breaks looking round and there's Carapaz, Mas, Yates and wondering wtf is going on.
