Because the peleton hasn't been making perfect calculations for the last 100 years with or without radio's? It isn't exactly rocket science to catch a break in the last 10km, even with only that motor guy giving information.

It's not the same thing. Not at all. I know it's easy to imagine nothing changes, but that guy on the back of the moto does not have real-time timing like you see on the ASO video feed overlay.

I don't get this comment are we watching the same sprint. Cavendish is trying to get on Kittel's wheel. Both the Argos rider and Cav veer into each others paths and go shoulder shoulder...no?

There was more than this movement in the sprint as well. Look at the last KM several dangerous moves it happens in most sprints. You often see shoulder to shoulder it does not always lead to crash today it did.

Agreed. ASO goes to great efforts to hide the head-butting on the sprint finishes. This time, it will be on the evening sports summary. Maybe a fine? Either way, not cool.

They were both riding like a sin wave, but cavendish had his shoulders in front when they came back at each other. It was Cav's fault, but the roles could easily have been switched

Yep, that's pretty much how it went. Veelers weaved a bit and Cav was trying to get up to Greipels wheel and bumped him. Mostly Cav's fault, but these kind of things happen in sprints. Sh!t happens.

On the France2 feed, they showed the head **** in slow motion. Instead of getting the rider off the wheel, it took him down. I doubt that bit of video will make it into the summaries broadcast all over the world later today.

slow-mo shows Veelers was looking back at Cav and weaving around as he lost the wheel, looked like a deliberate tactic to impede Cav. If you're gonna get involved in a sprint you take the risk, plenty of shoulders bang without anyone going down in pretty much every sprint.
