Argos will issue a complaint if the jury doesn't act.

It's an unfortunate series of events, but the fact remains that Cav didn't hold his line.

did either of them?

I saw a bumpy road and a Argos train member who stepped out of the train in wrong direction into sprinters trajectory.
I think these two things caused the crash much more then cav's shoulder move.

Not seen a replay of the final yet, but was involved in an incident with Tom Veelers. Whatever has happened, if I'm at fault, I'm sorry.

There's no way I'd move on a rider deliberately, especially one not contesting a sprint. I hope @tom_veelers is ok.

Just seen the sprint. I believe I didn't move line. I'm actually coming past Veelers & we touch elbows when he moves. Anyway, hope he's ok.

Veelers seems to think it was just an accident.

Where did you hear that? Here's an Australian journalist....

Argos-Shimano's @tom_veelers adamant Cavendish was at fault in that crash. He says he'll leave everything to the race jury. #TdF

Heard him talk to the NOS.

He says Cav rode into him, so I don't see how you explain that as Cav not being at fault...

Anyway, if this were Roberto Ferrari, the Anglophone world would all agree that this was a ridiculous move. That's what I don't like about stuff like this: the reaction depends on the nationality of the sprinter.

Thats about it.

Veelers makes room for Kittel, Cavendish is too late and unfortunately cuts him of too soon to evade him.

Veelers was certainly being awkward, but the fact is Cavendish reached a long way in order to shoulder his elbow, and thus take him down. He was also long beaten, and the whole thing had the feeling of tantrum about it.

Still, its not like taking him down was premeditated or anything - much rougher stuff than that goes on in many a sprint, and the type of contact was, I suppose, unfortunate.

He was at fault yes but it wasn't malicious or something just an accident. It happens during a sprint.

Yes, in fact Veelers did. He didn't purposefully swerve from his line. Cav did so, I don't see how you can argue against that.

No he didn't at all. First he was going left of the white line and after that he was going to the right. If Veelers had just hold his line, Cavendish could have easily passed him. That looking behind in full sprint preparation like Veelers did was highly dangerous too. Anyway, it is just a 'normal' sprint accident. Those things happen at times.

Looks to me like it was an accident. Veelers makes a little move to the right, maybe lack of concentration cause he was spent. Cav makes a move to the left to get into the slipstream and they collide. I understand that Veelers is mad but i don't think anyone should get disqualified here.

I was about to mention the ferrari incident.

Veelers initiated it the collision I think by peeling off to the left (fine) but then going back to his original line

Cavendish should have gone left before Veelers moved. Impossible to win going right with the left hand bend to come, and exactly the same mistake he made last week. That's the main thing to take out of this stage - well beaten and no real excuses (unlike last week)

These.

They were both drifting right and Cav goes around him to the right and attempts to pass on the left but there just isn't enough room. There wouldn't have been enough room even if Veelers had gone completely straight - Cav would have taken out his front wheel. Veelers drifted right a bit but nothing too bad. Cav just really wanted to follow Kittel (who had veered sharply to the left) as it was his only chance, but he was way too far back and there simply wasn't space. Looked like a bit of a desperate move but it was the heat of the moment and really his last chance to have a shot at Green so I'm sure it was all adrenaline at that point.
