It's not like:

a) He actually shouted at the little girl, he had a few words with her father.

b) It wasn't some sort of prolongued verbal attack, he perhaps spoke to him for about 5 seconds and then gave a couple of nasty looks as he walked away muttering.

It looked like the girl was already upset before Gilbert even got there, I think she was crying about the dog getting hit or perhaps someone else had already said something.

Yes i remember that too, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a little girl though which was my original point.

Easy to shout at a child as they dont shout back

It's even easier to make your accusations on twitter like Cavendish always does. ;)

Anyone remember his tweet after Gent-Wevelgem?

Ps: he was yelling against the parents for being total ****s.

Cav isn't the only one who takes out his frustration on twitter though. Lots of riders do it.

Seems even easier for people to just have a dig at Sky for some reason.

Wiggins working for the sprinters again? :O Who was the last overall winner you guys remember doing that while in yellow?
As noted, both Riis and Ullrich would assist Zabel.

If you go back to the 2003 Giro, Simoni would ride (often at the front, early) of the Saeco train for Cippolini. Though I think he was doing it to stay out of the way of crashes as much as anything. Mig used to ride that way for Banesto, and I think that's what Brad is doing here.

It's the best thing for Brad to do actually, so I'm surprised people are getting worked up about it.

The Tour is already in the bag, the only thing that can stop him are crashes. Where can't you crash? At the head of a sprinter train...

We will never know. The break was 40m from managing to stay away. With EBH's engine I think they would.

No one from the original break got that close. The pair who were caught on the line were those who attacked late and were still fresh.

Yeah, you are right. Maybe the only risky moment is when he finishes his turn and drops quickly back through the storming pack - he could possibly get hit from behind or something. But then - I guess he wouldn't do it at all, if it was a narrow stage finish, where there isn't enough room to move to the side when going back...

Pleased he's finally getting support, but sad at how many victories were left on the road. Oh well, looking good for the next 2 weekends at least.

Wiggins said that at times this Tour Cavendish has told the team to think of the Yellow and not chase down breaks. Cav is frustrated because he isn't getting to do his job but he understands the big picture. He could still go away from the tour with 3 wins despite missing out on two sprints due to crashes (one admittedly his team might have given him help to get back from).

I expect once Sky have a TDF win under their belts they may start showing more flexibility particularly in their support to Cav. You can hardly blame them for having tunnel vision in their pursuit of their first GT win (let alone first TDF).

Well, 3/15 of the break nearly managed to stay away. Seems like a moot point since Sky won the stage anyway.
Yup, you can't really criticise Sky when they won the stage. It was nice of them to pay back Cav, but it would've been even nicer to let EBH have a go in the break, since Cav will have another chance in two days. This is assuming Hagen sat up of course, and didn't just have **** legs.

Anyway, we were treated to an epic last 15 km so can't complain.

Thanks. I've got to side with the Gilbert defenders here, what he did was not over the top, saying he "made a little girl cry" is way overdramatic. This is assuming the dog did cause the crash.

How hard is it to put your animal on a leash for 20 seconds until the peloton passes, really?

Yeah, normal reaction.
The dog is like: "I did nothing wrong" :D

I would like to see EBH get something out this tour for the effort he put in... But when you have the fastest sprinter its hard not to back him.

I bet those people just did not think of the possibility of the dog running off, it was not that they were that close to the road.

I doubt they would have let their dog lose if it was that close to a busy road, People don't seem to know how fast the riders go.

Well they tried on that stage where Wiggins brought back Luis-Leon.

Who gets the sprint responsibilities in the Vuelta? EBH perhaps or Sutton like last year.
