Allright does anyone know what the protest was aimed at, because I heard that it was partly due to the fact that several motors fell and they created some of the crashes, but I don't know how reliable that info is.

Cadel was not ripped up at all and he fell off. You don't have to have rips to have a crash.

I didn't mention Cadel or 'if no tearing then no crash'. All I said was it looked like dirt. You lost me.

Today's biggest winner?

CONTADOR

why?
Today's stage just proved that neither Saxo, nor RS are willing to hurt each other-If LA had not fallen, he had pushed the pace and hurt the Schleck Bro's- but somehow he'd concluded that forcing Saxo to go aggressive too earlier in the Alps would hurt him the most.
Saxo is in trouble with Andy & Frank are being caught in crashes & they seem very fragile at the moment...

Time is running out for those teams to take time on Conti;)

Maybe Armstrong doesn't really see Schlecks as a threat and Contador was in the same group anyway.

I do think that he was somewhat afraid of Mayo in 2004.

tomorrow's stage posed enormous risks for ac, it appears that the risks are now less and/or gone.

Hushovd:
-I wanted to sprint, but when the peloton reaches an agreement you just have to stick to it or you will make enemies in the peloton. I could have taken the green jersey.

How close were you to crashing?
-Extremely close. I was next to Schleck when he went down.

edit: more

-I will feel cheated if they give out points now. I was ****ed off when I got in the bus, but I'm better now.

-I think it was a silly decision because it's a bike race like any other. There were some bad crashes, but we fought all day and now I'm left with nothing.

Lance not really moaning on Twitter.

"What a day...crashes everywhere and I don't use the term "everywhere" lightly. Most of the GC guys hit the ground myself included."

"Got some good "road rash" on the hip and elbow. Bike mangled, cleat on the shoe completely cracked in two. Hope it's dry tomorrow."

BTW just a little rabo-pride.

Who where the two GC-contenders who did not fall and were up the front the entire time in the end?

Gesink and Menchov

Weren't those two supposed to be amongst the worst bike handlers?:p;)

I'm a Hushovd fan and hope he'll win the green jersey again, but in some strange way it would be nice to see Cavendish win it by a couple of points, so everybody can point at him and say "You don't deserve that jersey" because of this stage :D

Damn. They'll have to use one of the "reserved" ones then. :(

I know that Phil and Paul aren't the most popular announcers on this forum, but even Phil was trashing the riders for their refusal to ride at the end. He basically said that they shouldn't neutralize the sprint or the stage as this is bike racing and people fall. If you want to try to do something about it, then ride faster at the end. That was exactly how I felt about it as well especially since there will be plenty of crashes tomorrow. Did the peloton feel compelled to wait for Mayo back in 2004? No and they shouldn't wait for anyone that falls tomorrow either.

the funniest thing is that the stage was dedicated to the cannibal

Kinda makes sense - the best rider finishes miles ahead while the rest **** around aimlessly.

He's smart, he won't look like a hypocrite when he just rides on tomorrow when someone falls.

Eddy didn't need crashes behind to hold off the pack.

Mcewen is off to hospital supposedly.

Cancellara is a bully!:D

Cancellara played his cards well. More fool the rest of the peloton for listening to him. Perhaps they should have grown a pair and simply said F&^K YOU Spartacus! We're going to sprint for the points because we also came here for a jersey. You've got your win and yellow, let us have ours.

Alas. That did not happen. It takes two to tango ACF94. The other riders should have made a stand. I was surprised Rabo, Euskatel and Evans did not try and set the pace. They could have gained a minute on LA, AC and Wigans. Silly boys.

I'd like to know the reason too. That seems very weak reason to me. I guess Evans, Menchov and Gesink could have taken 2 or 3 minutes to Armstrong and Contador and maybe 4 or 5 to the Schlecks...

I think I'm beginning to hate Cancellara, who looked the instigator of the protest.
