Maybe he will contest sprint points when he has less chance of the win - Like tomorrow for instance.

Cav headbutting Thor.

And it's pretty clear that Thor didn't wanna take any points away from his friend Gilbert.

Well I guess Cav managed to motivate himself today! Farrar was nowhere which is a bit odd.

Galimzyanov just behind Cav.

I would guess that Farrar was meant to follow Thor but lost the wheel somewhere? There was a lot of bucking and barging in the lead-up.

Both Thor and Farrar have claimed they are going for stage wins and not the green jersey, but it seems like the one of them who is not going for the stage win goes for the intermediate sprint.

Hondo did a perfect leadout only to peel off and see that Petacchi was 50 yards behind the sprinters

From that sprint it seems almost like Garmin and Omega will use there strong man for the Green jersey hunt (Gilbert and Hushovd), and saving their sprinter for the stage win (Griepel and Farrar). One, the sprinter don't have to waste too much energy and save it for the stage win, but they will have someone up there to win the green jersey.

Also by having the 2 strongman up there, maybe they can take away sprint points from other challengers, since the stage win is worth 45 points.

This will be something that will be interesting to watch unfold after the next couple of days.

Guess Farrar is focused on the stage win and doesn't want to waste energy for the final sprint.
Petacchi gave up at around -500 meter, i guess he thought it was better not to take any risk for an intermadiate sprint.
