So, where did Gesink crash today? (Didn't read or see anything about the stage. Just know that I have a better than 60% chance that he did)

Don't care, I'm gonna blame somebody, and feel that I've been somehow cheated of Txurruka lunatic antics.

A couple of questions around the Green Jersey:

1. I have taken a bet Ciolek to beat Petacchi in the points classification. Clearly this start is not what I was looking for but my question is if Petacchi gathers say 150 points and then leaves the race will his points stand or do they go with him? In other words if Ciolek only gets 120 points but finishes the race would my bet arrive on the basis that Ciolek made it to Paris?

2. I have seen some chat about Petacchi making it to Paris but would be keen to hear some definate views as to whether or not he will go all the way? When I took the bet I was banking on him packing it in but I am getting pretty worried.

Hope it is ok to raise this here

Not sure why everyone says Hushovd not being up there is such a big suprise. I really can't remember him winning a true bunch sprint. He simply isn't as fast as the true sprinters.

Champs-Élysées 2006 and many other times.
He hasn't really had tempo to win a real bunch sprint for the past two-three years, and this year he broke his collarbone in May and hasn't done any real sprint training before the tour. But he seems to be in ok shape. He did an impressive ride in the norwegian championship, leaving among others, EBH behind him.

His helmet fell down some stairs. What a big story. I'll be reading this stuff in Heat magazine soon.

People are saying Cav needs to shut his mouth and grow up, but has he actually complained this Tour? And I'm not talking about an out of context quote here

black pantsuits

this has to be a new phenomenon for tour de france?
maybe not, someone enlighten me.
pantsuits for the stage winner.
Black pantsuits with YELLOW wide ugly belts.
who is the handler for the girls?
handsome italian, probably wanted some leg or cleavage.
FABULOUS WIN, chicks are secondary.

Yeah, like it wasn't thrown down like a 10 year old in strop.

A question about Petacchi: when did he finish his last GT? I know he won the points jersey in the Giro and the Vuelta, but that's quite a few years ago. He dropped out of the Giro last year. Will he be motivated by the possibility of Green to drag himself over the Alpes and Pyrenees?

He did finish the Giro last year. He also finished both the Vuelta and Giro in 2007.

Ale-jet!!! ufffff great victory... the other riders look like they were just standing there looking at him... I'm pretty happy for him... I hope that he is not going to quit like he did in the 2003 though... Can't wait for more sprints like this in the next few days...

BTW... come on Manxman! the heroes raises when everything is against them... I hope to see a more fierce battle from him in the next stages...

Was it today he crashed? If so can't see what prudhomme can do, it was an easy stage

No, he crashed today. Can't blame organisers. Route has been known for ages and should of done some recon instead of whinghing. Riders need STFU about the parcours.

Was going to mention, one thing that really impressed me was Renshaw out dragging Lancaster (and in my eyes convincingly)...Lancaster is no slouch himself, as he showed in the tour of california. It was great to watch two of the better leadout men, sitting down, side by side, and just cranking out the watts like that!

1)No finish = no points. From the rules....In order to appear in the general
points ranking, riders must finish the Tour
de France.

2)Keep worrying, he has finished GTs in the past, at this stage in his career I think he will be pretty motivated to finish the tour....(just shooting the breeze here, don't really have any clues)
