A friend of mine is on holiday watching the race is at about 15km to go, just got off the phone. Says the wind isn't as strong as it looks on the TV and he doesn't expect much action re: echelons. Hope he's wrong!

Catch made with 45km to go. This should be interesting.

Either this wind rips the peloton to pieces or we have some attacks, I'm going to sleep until the last 10km. It's 12.35am Thursdayhere.

Frans Maassen Rabo DS: Gesink, Barredo and Garate fell. Gesink is worst, but he only seems to have cuts and bruises, nothing serious. Gesink has no problems on the bike. Maassen expects hell in the final part of the stage

Phew. Major news. Thanks D_T. I expect a crazy finale as well, Gesink better stay upright.

Boonen just got given Vanish spray stain remover to get the bloodstains out of his shorts. Bit insensitive in my view.

pff yeah, stains on his shorts, that's what he should be worried about now

I thought that Garate looked in a worse state than Gesink after that crash.

Had no Radioshack-rider been involved in the crash which took down AC, the golden "Never ever wait for Berto"-rule surely would have been applied again by the Shack. What a pitty...

Seriously: A very dangerous stage. I am not sure if some of these roads are not a little too narrow for a Tour-stage.

Marco Chagas just made a curious comment on Boonen: with the TV motorbikes always close to him he can't get small helps from the cars so it will be even thougher on him to keep on going

All these crashes are horrible, especially considering the news today of poor Carly Hibberd. :(

Condolences to her family + friends.

What happenedto Contador? Did he fall off himself, or just caught in a crash?

Impossible to tell. The shirt on his back was scratched off, so he must have made a roll, but didn't seem hurt at all.

Not much help Tom Boonen gets from teammates..

Hes a great rider and hopefully he can get his game in gear again.

Im not sure, that Riis and Saxo bank Sungard are intererested, but would be some mix.

Contador and Boonen.

unfortunately boonen already renewed his contract with quick step iirc. a shame saxo would be the right team for him
