My impression was that Goss stopped to let Martin go when he realized Cav wasn't on his wheel.

Yeah I saw it the same. Goss has said previously he isn't as good at leadouts as Renshaw because he is too used to sprinting himself, and goes for gaps that are too small etc, loses his sprinter.

Seems like the green is going to be between Gilbert and Rojas with Cavendish as the wildcard, I don't think Farrar/Hushovd got a chance since they take to much away from eachother.

if he keeps sprinting like that Cav might be able to pull it back

Boonen on 11'23" seems he'll make the cut.
Good for him, a gutsy ride. I'm amazed he even got back on. Since he won green he really has had a rotten string of Tours de France.

I think that last climb killed a few braincells. EBH had great legs but went way too early, Feillu and Hushovd were spent after closing the gap. Good sprint by Gilbert, beating Rojas and giving Cav someone to beat.

wow, nice win by Cav!

EBH clearly went too early, but what a speed he gained there!

Was worth a go, there was a definite lull in the pace, could've pulled it off for sure.

Vandborg said in an interview with Danish TV2 that Contador had a mechanichal with his rear changer about 10km before the crash when garmin upped the pace alot for the sprint. So he had to drive along, but his chain got caught somhow and his backwheel simply stopped turning and putting him in the asphalt. Really bad luck :(

That's called an 'Andy Schleck' in the cycling world.

Cavendish on ITV now. Says he got knocked out of position by Greipel with 1800m to go and felt he couldn't defend himself because he was scared of getting relegated. He thought he was out of contention at that point and was initially sprinting just to get some points for green. He thinks that the organizers made the finishes tougher this year in response to HTC dominating bunch sprints in the past few years.

You see something like that and you can't help but admire Cavendish.

Then he talks.

Lol. He's talking now. Gotta love him, though.

LOL!

but then you see him getting kissed by Tony and blushing... :p

Which really lends character to the sport. And the sprinter.

Cav telling Eurosport that they've tried to prevent bunch sprints this year because of how dominant they've been the last few years.

Wiggins was 18th, Evans finished 11th, Kloden 12th, not a classic bunch sprint.

18th is not "up-there" in my book, GC guys regularly finish in the top 25 just keeping out of trouble.
