It was a solid effort by Seba indeed. He wanted to win the GC, and the only way to do so was by attacking early. There was no way he'd take 2'42'' on Soler on one climb. That said, I hope this was the last time WorldTour, or even PCT, were allowed to participate. Even when there isn't a rule change, I hope the NT uses the l'Avenir to give Colombians who don't have a contract in Europe yet a chance to show themselves, like Aldemar and Chavez did this week.

It would also be better for their development to send riders like Aguirre, Florez or Ivan Gomez, instead of Henao and Dani Martinez.

Bit off topic but do you know where Ivan Gomez is now? He was with Caja Rural (Amateurs) in the Volta Futuro (Portugal), but I dont know if that was a 1 race deal or that he has signed for Caja, havent seen any results from him since that race though.

Good ride by Ciccone, he's 20 years old and was already impressive in the 2014 Giro della Valle d'Aosta, 6th overall and the mountains jersey and 6th before the final stage in the 2014 Tour de l'Avenir (he crashed on the final stage and couldn't finish the race).
He'll ride for Bardiani in 2016.

Brave move? It's the 3rd day in a row that Colombia tries a lone break without success. Don't you think it became rather stupid to try the same thing over and over while having the strongest team? Jaramillo doesn't have a clue. Same stupidity the way he directed in the Pan am in Toronto.
the colombians clearly didn't have the strongest team here

So, Jaramillo brought Fernando Gaviria, arguably the best sprinter, but didn't bring rouleurs to control the breaks and launch his sprint, because they were "all in for the GC"... Why in hell do you bring a sole sprinter if you are not wiling to work for him?

The 1-A GC candidate for all media was Henao... Maybe all were wrong and he is not that great, but he had Martínez, Reyes, Contreras and Chavez to support him. Italy was the only team with a similar depth (and didn't win anything either).
Instead of working as a team, Jaramillo sent the riders in suicidal missions from afar, 3 times in a row... Why did they fall short everytime? Either, he didn't know his riders or didn't study the roadbook.
It's not even about rivals, it's about bonking:
Martinez was at 1:35 at the beginning of the penultimate stage but soloed from Col de la Madeleine until he was captured and lost 6:20
Henao was at 2:41 and left Reyes climbing to CdF (after less than 15 minutes working together and while having over 2 minutes to the favorites, and 60Km to the finish) and finished 4:27 down.
It's obvious they didn't peak for this race (especially those whose calendar could be adapted), they didn't work together and the DS had no knowledge about his own team, route and rivals.

How did Haig look in the mountains? I know he came 2nd so obviously rode well but was that off the back team support, wheelsucking or simply being strong? We don't get any coverage of l'Avenir here :(

Just curious because there's huge wraps on him as a climber, along with Rob Power

There were no live images, there are some short video summaries on youtube but not yet of the mountain stages.

According to his Strava file it was quite a ride (not that the figures are necessarily accurate?) But that's lots of KOMs! He is a serious talent.

Power and a couple of other Aussie team riders are already back home, so unsure of team support.

Power is actually in Spain with OGE. He was riding with Stephens in the team car the other day - check the backstage pass.

Interesting to see how the rest of the team was, because even though Power came second last year, Haig was riding entirely for him and still came 12th.

Haig is actually down as a stagiare for OGE so he's likely to be joining them post Avenir. Will be interesting to see where they may give him a late season ride
