He has two swords of Damocles hanging over his head, the French infusion investigation and the U.S. federal investigation. He would have to be a psychopath for his training not to be affected. Plus, five hour lunches with Bono are not known to improve time trialing ability.

But the truth is, his heart hasn't been in it all along. long before these investigations into what a fraud has been foisted upon us. I think as soon as the ink was dry on the new sponsorship, Elvis left the building.

As for lunch with Bono, it is prolly good for scoring some fresh honey. But not much else.

i think hes just going to vanish mid tour, and sometime in august a goat herder is going to find him sat by the side of the road on the tourmalet, head in hands, weeping.

Could be the biggest public celebrity breakdown since Vanessa Feltz on big brother

I have no clue who this Felch person is. It's a lot more fun to watch HUGE celebrities fall. Schadenfreude.

I think these media who**s on reality shows make it to the big tube BECAUSE they look like a grande Mal seizure waiting to happen.

Landis was bubbling way before the public knew about it – Hence the gut. He was emailing Lance: "I lied for you. I kept your secret. Your move - get me on the team".

Cyclingnews always come up with excuses for Armstrong.

Fact is, the other top riders rode under same circumstances. So

Nice ride by bauke Mollema, he is coming into some good form with his time trialling.

He seemed to make a point of slowing down in the last hundred meters to show everybody he was playing it safe in the wet, like in Rome. "Look, see, I'm not even sprinting across the finish line, guys".

That combined with the fact that I am sure the extra attention recently given to his years of doping have made him a little shy to use the old methods. I think we can clearly see they type of rider he is without "preparation." He's pack filler who is lucky to beat the second or third fastest guy on each team. Sad state for The Uniballer. He is almost as big of a loser as his fans.

Or the road was wet for the later starters. Not good for winding tight narrow streets in the town centre when you have a GT to do in a few weeks time.

Yea, that is the excuse we will hear, but you and I both know that he is not as "prepared" because he doesn't want to get busted. This is who he really is as a rider. Not pretty at all.

maybe they have all been scared straight, at least until they find who the new person is to send their 'donations' to.

Actually, I am of the belief that is exactly what is happening. Riders at the sharp end of the peloton have to think their days spinning the chamber and pulling the trigger are bound to end badly sooner or later. When you then look at the attention Landis' accusations have brought, I would bet they are pulling out blood with the intention of injecting it back in later, but little else. Until they can catch transfusions of one's own blood, people will continue to do it. But everything else has to make them a bit uneasy now...at least I hope that is the case.

From what I have read about drug users(I have never known any myself) the paranoia of using and getting caught is part of the high. Getting away with it I mean. Then comes the denial etc.... I imagine it is the same with PED people.

The thing is he doesn't even seem to care :s. I think he already lost 4 seconds going of the starting line, I thought he was going to return and say no mommy please I don't want to race, this is boring... Then he gets up a litlle steep mountain with a gear that even I could pass him while he was pedalling around like a moron...

Didn't know this was a Lance Armstrong thread? The guy is 38.. he's not gonna win anything big anymore. With or without dope.

Anyways what's up with:
164 Christian Vandevelde (USA) Garmin - Transitions 0:01:33

Almost the last to finish. Did he fall?

Yes he fell in the rain near the finish. Went into the barrier pretty hard. Didn't look hurt but took a while to get up and probably just took it easy to the line.

Maybe he should just stay out of competition until the Tour. This guy can't catch a break.

Vande Velde, Menchov, and Soler should be put on the same team. The team should have bright red and orange kit to warn the other riders in the peloton to be on their guard when they are nearby.

Stick around. You'll soon realize the obsessed girls make EVERY thread a LA thread. They can't help themselves.
