I see a kangaroo almost took out Vine. Not the smartest animals. Have a tendency to run towards hazards rather than away. Vine was lucky.
Yeah, Vine was saying in post-race interview that kangaroos are the biggest danger on Aussie roads for cyclists. And Brennan said he got smacked by the kangaroo, so he had actual contact with the cute but not so clever marsupial, didn't stop him from winning though.

Michael Leonard lost 3 minutes and his 7th spot on GC. That seems pretty silly - especially if it was because it was him they made chase the break at some point.

Real Chris Harper attacks!

And now Jefferson Cepeda attacks.
The Movistar one... someone needs to tell Mielke that you need to specify when they're both in a race...
the EF one is Alexander Cepeda, so there actually is no need to. At least if he uses the right name for him

Finally Brennan wins.

Tough race for UAE with Narvaez and Bjerg both getting injured, fortunately Vine managed to avoid injures (despite the kangaroo scare) and take the overall win.

Aah, okay, didn't know that.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the Movistar one being older, and having two Jeffersons in the family might have been confusing...

yeah, no idea how exactly it was sorted out (or if one of the names is an "official" first name), but if he calls himself Alexander on his social media profiles, I guess that's good to go with.

Early signs the Visma curse has moved to UAE...

You would imagine that they have some way of establishing clarity for family gatherings etc. Alexander is the younger, so I would imagine the family habit would be to give him the alternative name rather than re-naming the one they had already been addressing as Jefferson for 2 years.

But how little imagination does one have to have to give your son the same name as your brother gave his son? (I guess there must be some family significance)

There are plenty of riders (or any other section of society) that are commonly known by their second given name (even excluding strange Danish naming customs): odd that commentators haven't been keen to prefer this one.

I haven't actually noticed what commentators refer to Alexander Cepeda as. In this case, he was referring to the guy from Movistar, and I thought that was a little unclear, not knowing the guy from EF is usually referred to as Alexander Cepeda.

That's why I wondered if there was a crash at the end. I didn't know they were making him help chase.

I actually have the same given name as both one of my cousins and our shared grandfather, but we are indeed not very imaginative in my family.

Too bad the skydiver wasn't able to take off back into the skies before he made contact with the roo. :D

But seriously, a fairly meaty animal running at full speed like that would surely knock the wind out of you at the very least.
