PN was average but certainly not ridiculous or not near the ridiculous level of this race

agreed, the paris nice parcours wasnt great but nothing compared to this tripe.

The fact we all knew before the race even started that the time trial would decide the gc was appaling.

The only reason im even watching it is to cap it, and im doing that by finding the end and rewinding 3km. If i wasnt recording it for online, i wouldnt even bother watching at all.

I wouldn't' blame CN for not reporting on it at all, they should just pull the race from the front page and concentrate on the upcoming races like Paris Tours, Lombardy and the other stuff coming up around the world etc.

World Tour race my ****.

I was watching the rugby. Did I miss the giant panda? No.. I thought not. Still one more day, although it's in the city. Maybe one will escape from the zoo to liven things up.

Is it my imagination or is any new race, warts and all, just pummeled into the ground on this forum? It's like being locked in a movie theater and forced to watch the same film over and over. The constant drone of negativity sends you screaming for the door, but you can't get out.

Oh, that was just a dream. I can leave after all. Click!:D

yes, its your imagination. Some races are greated with pleasure, for instance the two canadian races have been generally well received. This one though, is utter horseswill.

New races are often greeted with pleasure, but if they are plugged in to the top level then they will be greeted with skepticism.

Sometimes, such as in the case of the GP Quebec and Montréal, that skepticism is proven unfounded and the races are well-received.

In the case of Beijing, every fear has been confirmed, and more.

Exactly. Think that it is easier to introduce one day races though. A week long tour in a country new to the sport was always going to be a disaster.

Its not even the country, although the complete lack of crowds because the government dont like crowds, and the smog hasnt helped. But you could put it in Belgium, run four flat stages with no time bonus's preceded by a time trial and the indifference would be just the same.

True, but there would be crowds all along the way.

Congrats to Liquigas' 1-2. Wonder if Viviani wants to return the favour to Sagan on the last stage???

When I asked to some cycling chinese friends why China didn't choose any nicer area their answer was that organizator (government) doesn't care about showing "nice China" or "friendly China" but more about how rich China is.

I don't think it's necessarily an active decision by the Chinese government to arrange it in the relatively rich and wealthy Beijing, rather Beijing is the only local government prepared to put forward the requisite money and organization to help pay for it.
