The Ticker seems to have died.

But if the live tracking thingy is working (a big if), the head of the race is a few hundred yards up the road from the gold jersey with the peleton half a mile back.

I'm getting twitter feed to my phone in work which is updating fine. Dowsett in now 25s in front with the back of the race so 4mins behind

Impressive fail by Sky indeed. Their whole team in the front group, including their designated sprinter... and great sprinter Lars Boom takes the win.

Funny.

In the Worlds 2012 topic I noted that Boom has a pretty decent acceleration but lacks high end speed against sprinters. But in an uphill sprint he could do something.
Immediately somebody noted it was long ago Boom actually sprinted.

Good to see he can still do it in small group sprints like I thought he could

Also big sky fail. Rabo 1-2 in a group with 6 sky riders??

Well done to Boom.
Sounds like Sky ****ed up.. They should stick to 3 week races in heat with climbs and leave 2.1 races to the experts. :)

6 Sky riders who put the hammer down for a large part of the stage. When Dowsett went off the front it was left to HTC to chase. No surprise that two of the riders who did little or no chasing ended up first and second. Thomas third and Cav fourth apparently.

In which case Boom takes the jersey by 1 sec from Cav

If Cavendish can't win a slight uphill finish at the ToB he won't win a genuine uphill finish at worlds.

Ben Swift didn't contest the sprint @12 secs

Next HTC rider 2 mins behind Cavendish. Looks like he had no lead out and chose the wrong wheel.
