Did look a bit like Mark Donovan was Remco-ing Remco there but I think it was directed at Donnenwirth, still it's going in the 'future use' folder

Spectacular collapse by Ineos.
Foss, Pidcock and Turner all finished more than 10 minutes behind. Now their best placed rider in GC is 31st (Hayter).

10mins,wow, if it wasn't clear theyd given up during the stage, thats as clear an indication they have now

Lol im so here for their collapse. I know its petty and one shouldnt hold grudges, but after theyve destroyed cycling (atleast in my eyes) for half a decade, I cant help myself

Yeah it's way easier now when UAE and Visma are the new destroyers. Half a decade goes so quickly, no?

Haters have to hate.

How have they destroyed cycling? I imagine the explanation will be suitably entertaining.

In its simplest form, you could suggest it's akin to, Jose Mourinho's trophy cabinet speaks for itself, doesn't mean you have to like him as a person or enjoy watching his teams play.

I missed the stage. Can Remco still make up the time? It doesn't look good, but like some have said, it's not really an important race; just training

its only 30 secs, he could make that up on one stage if he was minded to go for it, this isnt a packed field of top riders and the stages get easier as the race progresses

him going for it instead of Alaphilippe would likely have resulted in the same result, though. Both have "no shape".

If they wanted to win the race, they should have worked for Magnier. But that's obviously not what it's about this week.

It was still a decent ride for guys with "no shape". The INEOS gang has negative shape apparantly.

I think Remco's shape is decent. He pulled a lot and was responding to attacks. He just wanted it hard and was not focussed on the win. Probably we have more of the same today unless he wants to test a long TT effort with 20-40km to go. The sections of false flat might suit him.

yeah, that's what I meant, and it also makes sense in regards to bigger goals ahead.

But yesterday, I doubt he would have been able to beat Williams either. His attacks looked alright, but he always needed to catch some breath again afterwards.

What the majority of the bedroom keyboard warriors on this forum don't seem to understand is that pro cycling, like everything else involving people, is political and subject to human relations. Remco knows perfectly well that winning the Tour of Britain would be basically meaningless for his career and that Steve Williams would be a much more 'appropriate' winner for a British race. He is not at the race to win, he is there to get race conditioning (believe it or not pro cyclists generally prefer competing in races to private training) and to help promote the event (which came very close to folding) with his presence.

Remco looks ready to rock the worlds. He still has room to improve but he has time to get in top shape.

To be fair to Jake Stewart, despite me calling him a '****ing moron' (and he was) he has looked really good following these Alaphilippe/Evenepoel attacks in the past couple of days.
