Hey guys, has the final climb today really had 6kms of 10% average gradient? Seems (too?) steep to me.

Hirt with 41,8 kms/h average, that is really fast, should these mentioned data for the final climb be true…

Good race from Brenner today, too…

Man let's be honest. Today was very disappointing from Fausto. I don't know if he bonked, if the heat bothered him, if he had a bad legs day, or I just massively overestimated him on steep climbs and hes not that good. But he really suffered while schmid dropped him easy on the final ramp He lost 1 min to Gesbert and 2 min to Hirt when he should have won this race overall.

Fausto is an emotional guy, he will suffer a lot mentally after today's disappointing performance, feeling the guilt. I hope it doesn't affect his confidence because he is an entertaining rider when he feels good always attacking. But it's almost like he enjoys more the rolling hilly terrain, almost like Remco, and not these walls. He shouldn't be a gc leader but should have the freedom in the big races.

Don't take it too bad dude, there must be some legitimate reason for his failing today, he'll be back with a bang in his next race. There's always an excuse for the big riders if they don't win their races, he will have one too. (other than being $h1t on the day)

Oh dear.

It was fun while it lasted

Fausto totally collapsed, guess i was wrong about him
I have Remco on the phone right now... Difficult to type while holding phone... one second.
Remco says not even Spilak would ride for Masnada after a failure like that.

Wait, he's saying something else... Hahaha. Oh Remco, i can't say that on the forum. Nevermind.

Lol. Fair play. I guess even Spilak would not have lost the lead like that today.

Funny enough the way Fausto has raced this Tour of Oman was exactly like Remco.

Think it's the first time he has been strong below 2000m altitude.
Nah, there's also the Mortirolo stage when he got outsprinted by Ciccone. Those 2 were in the breakaway, sprinted for kom points on every single climb and climbed the Mortirolo just a few seconds slower than Roglic and Mollema.

I noticed something: in the World Tour, they have more and more pairs; riders that are „equal“ in strength and profile.

There is Rog-Pog, Groenewegen-Jakobsen, Bennett-Ewan, Vlasov-Sivakov, Valverde-Nibali, VDP-WVA, Ganna-Affini, and some more.

And there is Masnada-Cattaneo-Ciccone: equally strong riders, all between very good and world-class… :)

In what universe is Affini Ganna's equal.

Ganna and Affini both are Italian bulldozers: you would not want to meet them unarmed in the dark… lol:)

Awww. They both look so nice!

I love how DSM always do their best to make a fool of themselves.

They have to be the most unlikable and poorly managed team in the WT.

A quick reminder that Cavendish has never been DSQ'ed in his career, despite far more reckless riding than that of Richeze. Other than the wrong relegation in 2009 in the Tour, I can't recall any other time he has been relegated either. On the other hand, I can easily recall many crashes he has caused.
