At this rate we're gonna have to start adding him to the "race to 100 pro wins" soon.
He's at 10 now, of which 8 in 2024 (out of 40 race days).

Apparently also Ryan Gibbons crashed in the same place as Debeaumarché, and was unconscious as well. Both regained consciousness, but suffered severe injuries.

not sure it really is much about luck, to be honest. Those ditches/ravines with concrete walls they have in Poland are just asking for a fatal incident to happen every couple of years. What is it with Poland and the extreme accidents?
Okay, the Katowice sprint was a disaster waiting to happen for many years, but Lambrecht was a complete freak accident. I didn't see what happened today so I wouldn't know if it was overly dangerous but it seems like the organisers (and of course riders) are extremely unlucky.
Sagan Tirreno Adriatico peak puncheur form vibes.Masterclass Thibau. His uphill sprint is always so good against climbers. They need to make it harder to get a chance against him.
OK guys, predictions for tomorrow (stage 4)? Anyone fancy Ewan?If it's Thursday, it's time for a sprint. Stage 4 from Kudowa-Zdroj to Prudnik 195.3 km. Starts 12.15 CET and TV from 12.20 CET
Some lumpy stuff to start the day, but by the time they get to the last 50 km it should be "peloton compacto" and time for the fast guys to show their stuff. Unless of course the breakaway hangs on.

Benji Naesen isn't with Visma anymore. In fact, he isn't with any team currently, because Lotto Dstny too quickly figured out he has little of value to add.not sure it really is much about luck, to be honest. The Jumbo guys on Twitter (Benji, Plugge) are blaming "no radios" instead now to push their agenda, but it didn't really look like the main issue to me today.
Yeah, it's a bit much to use some poor guy lying in a ditch to push your agendanot sure it really is much about luck, to be honest. Those ditches/ravines with concrete walls they have in Poland are just asking for a fatal incident to happen every couple of years.

Hi Richard,You are caught in the act of fake news! Today's crashes at the @tourdepologne
have nothing to do with the absence of radios and you know it. The riders were taken care of according to standards. Our priority at the @UCI_cycling is safety. You want to keep the radios on to give instructions, not for safety. Take responsibility for it!Let’s continue working together!
to be fair, going by the comments Benji got from some riders, those with a radio were informed on time about the crash in the breakaway:Yeah, it's a bit much to use some poor guy lying in a ditch to push your agenda

At least Lappi put on his big boy pants and called him out on it -

The roads in southern Poland have deep ditches due to hilly or mountainous terrain. Otherwise, there would be rivers flowing down the roads which are mostly leading through the valleys, gorges etc. I'm not sure if it's unique for Poland. How does it look in other parts of Europe with similar terrain?not sure it really is much about luck, to be honest. Without radios I think guys would ride more defensively so they can physicaly see their opponents. It becomes a sort of "Mexican stand off". Or as it is now, with a train pushing as hard as possible to drop guys instead of attacking. As of radios I think there should be full communication present. Making the sport more random for it to be more interesting is not the way to go in my opinion. I want the race to be decided with well informed decisions not chaos, uncertainty and misinformation.
I don't doubt they are useful, but imo they need to be better secured. Here's a screenshot from the lap after, and you can see that everyone who goes wide is at risk of hitting that concrete "bridge" at the end of the ditchThe roads in southern Poland have deep ditches due to hilly or mountainous terrain. I don't think it's the point, everyone knows that race radios are very useful in certain situations. The question is whether they have more advantages than disadvantages, and how things can be improvedI think some are missing the point. Radio's are needed for immediate safety as sometimes riders go off on a descent which is not covered by TV or even noticed in the actual race. It allows distressed riders to inform their team that they've had a crash.
Just a recap of today's stage - sprint or breakaway? Also restricted use of radios like yesterday's stage 3 - stage 5 will see a complete ban so guys better get used to it today. If it's Thursday, it's time for a sprint.
