Pena's stage win when taken in context is the biggest shock so far in 2023 - He's ridden on the front of the peleton for the first three stages - He crashed on the first descent and had to chase back to the peleton - Split the group on the final climb then marked moves from after Zana attacked and then counter-attacked to be 10 seconds behind Zana who then crashed - Finally, he's barely raced in 18 months and had shown nothing.

Pena showed a lot of climbing talent in the U23, nice to see him having a great result after some dark years.
Zana crash had me shocked for a bit, thankfully he is ok, and even the GC leader, however it may be difficult to defend the jersey tommorrow if he is badly bruised.

Tomorrow is a day which is a quasi-sprint - It will suit a Mezgec/Scelling type in the final - Riders usually suffer two days after a crash.

Not what anyone wanted to see, today of all days.

Tiny margins can have enormous consequences. A slightly different angle at which he departed his bike, and his sommersault could have brought him down onto that group of rocks, and much more serious injuries. And presumably a slight difference in trajectory as they left the road is the difference between the situations of Sheffield and Mader today.
