Today is really the worst stage, that 10km flat lap around Lana at the end is just bad and takes a lot a way from an otherwise interesting stage. That said, the last time they did those 2 climbs they finished in Meran/Merano with 8.5kms of flat after the descent and it was won by O'Connor, so who knows.

Tomorrow is fine in the context of the race as more of a breakaway stage before the final 2 gc stages, but they could have made it more interesting.
They actually take the road through Oberolang after the Furcia descent to have a shot uphill section, but then they go out of their way and turn left instead of going straight ahead over the Sallerstraße climb. That would be another short climb (on a fine road, not too narrow and in good condition, unlike the clearly harder, pothole filled, Goste climb on the other side of the valley) and you'd cut the 12.5km of flat a the end down to 5kms of flat. https://www.cronoescalada.com/tracks/view/792982

Pretty much all the big teams have representation up front, not sure who's going to bring this back even if there are 130 kilometres to go.

Bahrain can't be happy about this though.
True, but they won't sacrifice Landa for Bilbao yet and Pernsteiner is up front so that only leaves 3 riders to pull assuming none of them are behind the first peloton. So I can't see them closing the gap without other teams helping out. And the deficit is rising rapidly...

This is not coming back together. Front group too strong and already at more than 3 minutes.

Did this group attack, or did the others simply drop because they weren't good enough? Why on earth would any GC contender let this group go if he could follow the pace or not have their team shut this down, in a 150k stage? Lopez, Sivakov, Arensman... this group could easily have the GC winner among them if the peloton doesn't get their sht together asap. Are they even riding behind?

Completely unrelated, Felix Gall is really having the metamorphosis of the year. Leaving DSM even for a French team is working wonders.

There is no way the 11 out front are the strongest 11 in the race. Bahrain made some bad choices on the first climb.

The break is surely going to make it.

So happy to see Hagen at the front. He will be probably dropped on Mendola but he was strong enough to bridge on the valley.

Did froome go in the attack?
His team mate Hagen has chased alone the break. Froome is among the 20 riders surviving in the peloton... and now the only of the team...good day for him to see his current level, because he doesn't have to work...or I hope so...with Nizzolo dropped and Hagen in the break...what a pity the 7 minutes lost yesterday for nothing....why to being here an sprinter , it is a race for climbers.

I think he is not working now. So in Mendola I just see people as Sivakov of Lopez able to drop him
