Harper was sat up which is a more promising sign given how bad that looked, not just the top of the head but the way he landed will have compressed the neck/spine.

Harper's crash seems to have secured Carr the stage win. Favourites group has switched off completely with no GC attackers out in front.

He 'seems' OK in a sense that his hardest hit was on his right side after hitting that bump and losing control. The sliding into the lamp pole didn't look 'that' bad, in a sense he already lost most of his speed sliding.
It was his body being motionless for so long that really made it look bad.
He did eventually sit up and is in an ambulance.

Yes it's a real shame all round. Though this is allowing everyone to join the chase group, possibly even Foss, which might make the final climb interesting.

Pace is so laboured that even Foss looks class, been a good race this with no clear favourites, imagine the Giro if Pogacar wasn't there.
