First win for Ciccone after his heart operations.
??
Before the start of the season he had 2 operations because of supraventricular tachycardia, that's the reason why he started the season rather slow and was rather unspectacular.

It's sad to see one of the harder one week races on a he calendar not attract any more WT teams. It's a tougher race than California.

Powless really doesn't impress me much, this race at least. Adrien Costa had a much higher level last year.

I don't think Costa is a fair bar to set, because Costa was really freakishly good very young. Powless is superb for a 20 year old.

So was Powless. Comparing Powless in Utah and California last year, it doesn't seem like he has improved much. I would say he was worse here, all the while he should be getting closer to his peak with Avenir right around the corner.

Maybe he's focusing more on Avenir than Utah? Also the altitude will help him a lot for Avenir, though the course without an ITT will count against him. I think he will win this last stage.

I'd rather see the hard circuit with the Capitol Hill uphill finish that is a bit like an American version of the Mur the Huy that they had in 2015 when Woods won the stage.

I prefer the stage to Park City they had last year.
Of course, the classic final Park City stage was always awesome, but I was just comparing this stage to the last hilly SLC circuit that the race featured.
