Good news for him. Its not a European team like he was trying to get but you know the ol saying, beggars can't be choosers. He'll pass on some good knowledge to the guys there as well too.

What a load of tabloid rubbish. So they base that he is going to Saxo because Riis 'may' contract Menchov. Seriously?! Has journalism sunk so low that gossipy columns like that are written. Even if he does go to saxo it is still an average story.

As a story, perhaps it's questionable. But it would be a good deal for both Riis and Menchov, wouldn't it? Maybe Menchov could then skip the Giro and support Contador at the Vuelta or something like that. ;)

Giro - Porte
TdF - Menchov
Vuelta - Contador

Better than relying on Porte in the TdF.

If Contador isn't allowed to start in the Tour de France, he also isn't allowed to start in the Vuelta. Current status is: suspension till 23rd of August. Vuelta starts at 20th of August.

Contador's lawyers are going to ask that the start of the ban will be the day of the positive..

lol. Why is Porte doing the Tour? Looking for a top 10 in the itt stage or hoping to get a stage in a breakaway?

I totaly dont understand why it would start on August 23rd

If they want to start it then then its a ban of 1 year and 1 month, not a ban of 1 year. Big difference when you consider when Vuelta starts.

Apparently that's when they discovered there was something illegal in one of his samples.

A year is a year. The authorities do not look at start dates any cycling race, of course. Otherwise they could have proposed an 10 months and a half suspension. Big difference when you consider when Tour starts.

Well if their taking away the 2010 Tour then that means the Tour is included in the ban.

If you take the ban from date the sample is discovered, then they could have just waited till 2nd day of Paris Nice "discovered" it then and had him banned for a year untill March 2012.
