In a change of pace from how some other transfers have been conducted recently, Kurt Asle Arvesen turned down a massive offer from Luxembourg this summer with the motivation that too many riders are not respecting the contracts they have signed and he didn't want to become one of them.

Wow, that's dumb.

-That'll be 2 dollars sir.
-Well, I don't have any money, but I do respect my contracts!

Arvesen is a guy living according to his moral values: respect. If you call that dumb, you are probably 11 years old or completely brainwashed by modern society.

Yep, that's it.

He has a job he can only do for a couple of years more. I'm guessing he has kids, getting them the best future possible would be my main moral obligation. Money is king in this world and it will be even more in when his kids are grown up. Maybe you didn't get that concept.

I can respect his decision, I just don't think it's very smart to be the one guy with moral values in the modern day cycling world.
Is it really so immoral to go and do the exact same job for double the money in a world where contracts mean nothing? (wether you and him like it or not).
I don't think it is.

But hey, it's prolly cuz I'm 11 years old and/or brainwashed.

You are not the one to tell Arvesen what his moral values should be. He decided to live by it and takes the consequences. That deserves respect, whether you agree with his values or not.

Money doesn't make your kids' happiness, love and respect do.

That's quite a fall from grace for Markus Eibegger, to be riding PT and then to go to an team from Iran. Aside from that, the experience and adventure would be something he'll never forget.

It's just ironic that he's living by doing respect to a contract with the team that brought football-style disrespect of contracts to the sport.

I'm surprised that he got a massive offer at his age and after his health problems of 2010

The offer from Luxembourg was for a DS position. Sorry, if I missed to mentioned that.

Bennati speaks about his new team and his hopes for next season:

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/6...o-chase-success-in-all-three-Grand-Tours.aspx

He wants to ride all three GT's, but I think it's unlikely he will be selected for the Tour. The whole team will be centered around the Schlecks and Cancellara, and without a viable lead-out train he'll have almost no chance against Greipel, Cavendish, Chicchi, Boonen, etc.

His likely program:

He laid out his likely programme, with a couple of notable omissions on the list. “Qatar and Oman, to begin racing,” he said. “Then Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-Sanremo, to start winning. So too Gent-Wevelgem, the only Northern Classic.

“No Flanders nor Roubaix. I’m sorry, but that’s my choice. Flanders and Roubaix are races that I really like, but in the last two years the cobblestones and muurs have caused some Achilles tendon problems. If I want to race the Giro as a protagonist, I cannot afford to do them. The rest [of the programme] I’ll think about along the way.”

I think (I really can't remember where but I had the dutch text in my notes to translate) he's been offered a contract at Bretagne. Or was that another one of them?

Valverde to ride for Rabobank, QuickStep or RadioShack

I had this feeling when he said in the interview few days ago

"Valverde raced for six seasons for the team of Eusebio Unzue, and said he would be grateful to return to the new Team Movistar, but said he would see what offers would come."

But honestly, I can't see him riding for a team other than Unzue's.

I might find him fit to ride with Rabo, but the other two are very "strange" nonetheless... and BTW-the liquigas option is laughable:p
Rabo is just as strange an option, they'll never sign him. They could use him, but they won't.
