Anyone heard anything about teams looking to sign Gediminas Bagdonas (another rider with some sporting criterion points)? I've now seen a few articles saying that he's been negotiating with a bigger team or that he's "caught the eye" of big teams. It was even mentioned in an interview with the An Post team manager. But I still haven't seen any team named.

Haven't heard anything a all, but I hope he gets a WT ride. If not, one of the Belgian Pro Conti teams would make sense. He certainly wouldn't look out of place in the bigger cobbled races.

So when is Katusha going to announce Denis Menchov? THe new manager said he was hopefully going to announce a big signing soon. Maybe that means since Tchmil left Menchov is open to go to Katusha and just needs to get his contracts worked out.

Btw, Luckyboy! I was looking at your confirmed transfer thread (thanks for the work btw) and noticed that you cited http://sporten-dyn.tv2.dk/cykling/article.php/id-44203272:nordmand-skifter-nok-til-riis.html saying Rasch is going to SBS.
That Danish article actually mistranslated/mistranscribed the original article - Rasch said to procycling.no that if he joined SBS, he would "probably become a part of the classics team."

The Danish TV2 article simply omitted the "if" part and wrote that Rasch would "probably become a part of SBS".

Well I haven't seen anything to confirm it anyway. But it's true that Riis and Rasch have been talking, so it may well happen.

riis slowly and silently improving all parts of his team . . .

if contador doesn't get a ban wouldn't surprise me to see saxo again as the strongest team in the peloton in about 2 years
Yeah, with Bruno Pires, Karsten Kroon, and Sergio Paulinho he's really getting there

I expect Breschel to return next year. That would be a reinforcement.

those signings aren't really that bad. he lacked domestiques this year and thats what he is getting kroon should be good for the ardennes, pires can do a good job on the mountains on the giro and the vuelta (leaving a better domestique like sorensen fresher for the tour) and paulinho is a very solid domestique for the tour and hopefully since this is riis we are talking about he will also use him in the ardennes where paulinho should have actually focused his entire career imo and for some reason never really did anything there during his years with the hog. he can also try to get into breaks when he gets a free role

i also said slowly and in about 2 years :p

Oh Parrulo you're such a joker.

Saxo would need Contador to be suspended to get a good "team", but of course they wouldn't win half as many races even if they spent all that money on top signings.

I'm guessing u mean stage races as opposed to just races as there plenty riders who won more races than him this year. Just signing Kittel would mean more races won than without Contador.:D

Well yeah, it's supposed to be a balance between quality and quantity here. Otherwise they might as well abandon their WT status and go ride in Asia with their current roster.

I believe that as well but we don't really know since he has never done a GT before ... experienced domestique is something else

The mass exodus from Sky has been greatly exaggerated.

EBH clearly got assurances from Brailsford that Cav being around will have no bearing on his own goals. Good news for those who thought Sky would become HTC-lite.

Genesys twitter is hinting that Haas and Von Hoff are leaving?

I doubt that. those that can't handle the level will disapear yes, iranians might go too because iranian teams pay a lot more and they can't become stars in europe. but still some will stay that have the level and will to stay. this is also a good way to have within few years some iranian stars coming up.

TBH if I was from Iran and I'm a pro cyclist, I would take the opportunity to get out of Iran (\while that nutcase is in charge) and live in Europe then go back to racing for an Iranian Continental team just for the cash.

Betancurt confirmed at Acqua&Sapone until 2013 and the Di Luca's option doesnt seems so easy to be done.

Cav won't be a problem, having a TDF favorite on the team is a bigger problem for his own ambitions. He won't be able to join breakaways if Wiggins has yellow for example. Also, Sky seems to have more faith in G for the classics, partly because it would have been of much greater commercial value if he were to win a classic.
