Perhaps Miyazawa will bring cash with him F1 style and get a few rides. But will probably end up leading out Davide Vigano.

Weird that their budget is so small when they just recently tried to buy EBH out of his contract at Sky, which wouldn't be particularly cheap, to say it mildly. I guess the explanation might be that the sponsor only wanted to pay this kind of money for EBH and not for anyone else (he probably has more commercial value for the sponsor due to his nationality).

Menchov > Christina Watches :D

He may well get to ride the Tour of Denmark in a dual leader full on GC attack. And then spend the rest of the year selling cheap jewelry in a kiosk somewhere in Copenhagen.

Christina herself might end up getting a ride in that team. :p

Then I find it quite weird that EBH confirmed it
"Hey Brailsford, I'm not sure about staying, what with Cavendish coming over and Wiggins and Froome enjoying a new status for next year. On the other hand I happen to have this very sweet offer from Riis. Maybe if I got a rise?"

In RVV EBH had first been on the attack for several kilometers with Boom and then Chavanel (who was insanely strong that day and dropped both of them easily). After they got caught EBH was still just a couple of meters from making the final selection. G was the last guy over the hill who made it and EBH was the last who didn't, so despite having been on the attack and wasted a lot of energy already, he was right behind G. Absurd tactic really, to send the strongest sprinter on attack, this because they had no faith in him. Ideally they could make a great duo though with some more sensible tactics.
Wasn't this his first race back from injury? I guess EBh mostly didn't have faith in himself.

What's this with EBH fanboys blaming everything he doesn't win on his team?

I don't know how much money you are making, but I for one wouldn't exactly call it "cheap" ;) - although it's not Swarovski, Gucci, Armani etc....

Karpets to Movistar (apologies if already posted). Presumably opens up a spot at Katusha for Menchov or Cobo.

Something that's been long rumoured and therefore a surprise to nobody I guess.

Karpets never moved out of Egüés, so he's been seeing plenty of the Movistar guys anyway. He was always more comfortable there anyway, but we'll see how it goes.

Haven't had many confirmed from Lotto-Ridley so far.

Also, Karpets, Visconti, Moreno, Castroviejo and Quintana in at Movistar, but nobody out yet?

33-year-old Japanese (34 in February) Takashi Miyazawa has signed with Saxo Bank (announced at the Japan Cup presentation).

Another excellent signing by Riis...

Old japanese rider that really doesnt fill a gap and announced at the Japan Cup. Maybe this has more to do with fishing for a japanese sponsor down the road.

At Movistar:
García Acosta is retiring, and of course Soler and Tondó have left the team in tragic circumstances. They only had 25 on their active roster last year (26 between Costa's signing in April and Tondó's death in May).

Ah ok. I thought they would be a team with 30 for some reason.

Didn't realise Soler was out of contract with the team now.

Anyway I'm starting a project noting down contract lengths so next year's transfer season will be less confusing.

Neo-pro = minimum of 2 year contract right? Even coming from a Continental team?

Yes. Continental teams don't count as professional teams with regards to neo-pro rules.

It is believed that Quintana's basically picking up Soler's contract, pretty much same kind of terms. Soler will be welcome back at Movistar anytime he's willing and able to compete again, though they've said it's likely they would prefer to give him some time back in Colombia with Movistar Continental to get his feel for it back before bringing him back to Europe.
