Actually isn't the ranking they use actually closer to CQ ranking then the protour one (they use all protour, .hc and .1 races for the ranking)? In that case Martin and Goss have more points than Menchov and Sastre did

that's possible, I do not really know

there are other factors of influence anyway (besides the amount of reached points in whatever ranking), it was just meant as a side note

I see they got Vaitkus' nationality wrong, he is not Dutch.

An okay squad but when the best climbers are Weening and Lloyd it cannot be considered to be too strong.

If Dean, Lancaster and Hushovd all leave Garmin then they really need to look for a good leadout for Farrar I think. The best they would have left is Murilo Fischer I think and I'm not sure how experienced he is at lead outs and whether his speed is enough for a final lead out. The problem is there isn't that many good experienced lead outs available out there.

I have a feeling that Greenedge made offers to an awful lot more than 28 riders during the course of the season. I certainly know that both Hendo and CJ were approached on more than one occasion

Wonder if Greenedge have just approached everyone, got agreement in principal on signing about 70 riders and then are playing it from there.

I would be incredibly surprised if that sydney morning herald list turned out to be the actual roster. If it is, its a right mish mash of riders. Its all well and good having a plan to have most of your riders from one country, but seems that they are signing riders based on nationality and not based on quality.

Ya, the best is if you find someone who has already settled into the role of being a lead out and is happy with that. For example I would guess that Julian Dean doesn't have that many ambitions of riding for his own results anymore since he has been a leadout for something like 7-8 years now.

Yeah but assume that Lotto do not HAVE to take the riders left over from the Omega / Quickstep merge (i am under the impression that Omega are the holders of most of the riders contracts but may have that completely wrong) so means yet another team recruiting and some riders looking for teams. Although guess the quality riders will remain within the two new teams.

If the GreenEdge list is right then guess a few HTC riders may well end up at Garmin

Glad I checked here, I was about to post a rant about Flower Power and Martin in the GE thread.

I'd prefer Martin not being signed, at least until this notion of riding for Overall in GT's is dispelled. He's too good a TT to be mired with these delusions.

That list is worse than cyclingtips but better than a terrible blog I read. I highly suspect that the entire article is nothing more than just RG's musings/wish list.

Ah, I somehow forgot about Haussler as well. Though he's not much of a lead out. Though I guess he could learn. I would also not call Kristoff a lead out if it were to turn out that Garmin signs him. Kristoff has had some issues with navigating the sprints and getting in position so there would have to be some work done if you were to rely on him to bring Farrar in position.

Porte has said he is not likely to join GE, more likely joining BMC or Sky unless he stays at Saxo.
