Alexander Kristoff says that he is negotiating with several teams and that he will sign a new contract in the end of August. He says he could sign something sooner but he wants to wait until after Vattenfall cyclassics where he did well last year and thinks that if he does well again he could get a better deal.

I hope he will get picked up by Saxo bank, Bjarne Riis will show him some discipline! But more than anything this shows how *** the BMC management is, I particularly liked the part where he said that Kristoff was wasting time skiing in the off-season (he hasn't been skiing since he was 5 years old) and the part where he said that "not even Edvald Boasson Hagen was in good shape after the off-season in Norway" (he finished 2nd overall in his first race, tour of oman, finishing in the top 5 in all but one stage and finishing 2nd on a ****ing MTF, now there's skiing form for you).

So the conclusions is that Kristoff should actually start skiing rather that ride his bike in the snow since skiing seems to work but what he has been doing the past couple years has not been enough.

I hope he doesn't end up at Saxo Bank though. They already have an assortment of sprinters (I'm guessing the Haedos are staying?) so if Kristoff could find a place where he would still get good opportunities to develop as a sprinter would be good.

That makes sense as there needs to be some PR hoopla with such a big announcement.
wow, can't wait til September 5th...:)

FYI the September 5 joke came about as in 2009, thehog was adamant that on September 5 2009, Contador would join Garmin and Wiggins would join Sky, only that it never happened, despite the fact that he kept claiming that it would happen at a latter part of the year.

Yes but Quickstep already have boonen, Chicchi,Ciolek for the sprints. Too many sprinters. Like it or not Boonen still contests a lot of the sprints for QSI. I don't think it is wise for him to move to that team.

Boonen said him self he doesn't really like to sprint anymore. Of course he'll still sprint in WC though.

He can say it all he likes but he still doesn't mind getting invovled in the sprints.

It is up to Kristoff to get his body right. They raced him in all the early season stage races to get his form up but even with the snow in norway, he needs to start working harder.

Well, it also depends on whether he and his coming team think it's important to be in good shape in the beginning of the year. There are riders that are typical summer riders or autumn riders who take their time in getting in shape at the beginning of the year. I personally feel that if you do that you miss out on a lot of opportunities especially as a sprinter since there are alot of races that come down to sprints in that part of the year.

It's great when we are able to see such loyality in cycling. I know it's not always possible with teams disbanding and or a guy moves up from Conti or Pro Conti level, or moves to other WT teams to get more of an opportunity.

Isn't Alexander Kristoff linked to Garmin-Cervelo. I remember Vaughters tweeting something about him.

I tweeted Vaughters that Kristoff was looking for a team and he asked if it was true or just a rumor. Then Kristoff asked Vaughters if he was interested but that tweet was removed since twitter is perhaps not the best place for contract negotiations.

Kristoff says he is in negotiation with several teams and that he's 99% sure he'll get a contract ready soon.

What odds that Craig Lewis will go to Garmin? He came up through the Slipstream junior ranks with JV before he turned pro, and JV was there for him when he had a nasty crash at the Tour of Georgia.
