The Dauphine and Tour squads seem to bear this out to a certain extent. The nine riders at the tour, arent just the best for the job, they are also the nine that seem to have developed a really strong bond together. (there other others in that catagory as well, but obviously they couldnt all go).

On a related note, have you heard anything about how Uran is coming along with his English? I would guess that Zandio is most often there to help translate otherwise which is another thing that groups up certain riders.

Dim, that sounds exactly like a clique! Gerrans seems to be that type of person. Can't say I like that type of thing.

Are you surprised that Blythe is going to BMC and not Sky?

Props to that signing for bmc, a potentially very good one.

I'd rather you overrated Blythe then Kristoff.

Classic

also Blythe left the English system to go the Belgium on his own - maybe his nature

he already spoke (very) basic english when riding with unibet so I assume it won't be much of a problem now and I don't think zandio spoke english before moving to sky. he definetely wasn't brough over as a translator as zandio is a (close) friend of uran and also of soler

Nope. Sky have enough young riders with more coming. they already had a long term plan for Luke Rowe to come in, add in Kennaugh, Swift, Appollonio, and probably one other neo pro next year theres only so much youth you can have in the team.

As for the clicque thing. I dont think its that, i think there are just some riders that have bonded better than otehrs, and obviously over races its important to have good team spirit. From videos etc Ive seen gerrans seems very popular.

Agreed plus the fact that Sky already have several decent young sprinters in Swift and Appollino, and they may also sign Cav if you believe what you hear about HTC.

blythe is a very fats guy who seriously lacks engine, so he won't be much in the future, he's very similar to kristoff in this

I dont know much about him but I think he needs time to develop. Wont be surprised if he only gets a few wins next year for BMC.

At the very least I'd expect him to win lots in one-week stage races or whatever, a bit of a Kirsipuu, but he seems to have stagnated this season.

riders already show these capablity;s imo at very young age, boonen podiumed p-r at age 21, uran podiumed lombardia at age 22. 250 k+ races. blythe reminds me of hans dekkers but better, but he will never win more than races in region wallonne or gp jef scherens, never races in gt's or msr I think

maybe he can turn into a cavendish or mcewen but I have my doubts

You say that as if everyone was winning 6 or 7 races per season.

you always expect them to do better at bmc but by now one should see that when a rider goes to bmc they become considerably worse overall

TSF in that logic would'nt Wurf be in the liquigas TDF squad. He is Basso's training partner after all. Liquigas in my view have a solid team but maybe not as good as they could have considering they are sending Nibali to the Vuelta. Does anyone know when Sagan will start his first GT and what his contract is???

Any chance Sagan does the Vuelta --> Worlds?

He's doing the Vuelta. I would imagine he'll do the World's.

(Of course he may fall foul to some sinister Russian plot to push him off which exists only in your imagination).

Silly season is in full flow & I love it, with out sounding like Daotec but here goes

Sivtsov to Sky?? pretty sure this has been posted

Pippo to Geox - pretty sure this has been posted

Visconti has Movistar & quickstep after him according to his

TVG to Liquigas, BMC or Radioshack (Probably poor reporting linking a USA rider to 3 USA teams)

Elia Viviani and Simone Ponzi at least have their contracts extended with Liquigas until 2013

Christophe Kern extended his contract with Europcar & Tulik Angelo makes his professional debut next season for Europcar

Lampre after Garzelli??? Hhmm really not sure on this one
