That would make sense on a sporting/nationalist level, but don't Menchov and Tchmil have a really bad relationship?

Still it wouldn't suprise me. Geox thought that Menchov and Sastre could really team-up for the GT's which failed with Menchov only ending up 8th and Sastre not even making the top-10.

Menchov was obv not on his best in the Giro. I hope he's top in the Vuelta, could be a surprise then (podium?).

Seeing the field he ought to make podium in the Vuelta, anything else would be disappointing. Competing for the overall victory should actually be his objective.

He's due a good GT. It would be unusual for him to have 3 bad ones in a row.

His Tour was good?
Last year, yes - he was third, remember? He was nowhere in the Vuelta and mediocre in the Giro, so if he has another bad one it will be three in a row.

ur right.

But I have always some doubts about him. Sometimes he's just so bad at a GT.

He rode that gt the way Andrew did. He was tired from the Tour and unless Rabo and Spain have managed to take the Russian out of him, theres a chance he approached his free time the same way.

He did go all out on one stage though, and it almost made it a very good GT for him.

Just as everyone was talking about how boring it is for Cancellara to win another time trial, the Pope comes in with a significantly better performance.

The stage might best be remembered from his point of view with 7 riders still to go. He was winning the time trial and there were no more tt specialists to come.

It was going to be a great gt afterall...

oh no don't get him vino he's a traitor of attacking style racing.get duarte, rujano, gilbert but please no lo squalo

if nibali and kreuziger will be in astana,i might not even cheer anymore for astana except for the kazakhs of course.

Nibali attacks more than you think. He doesnt do it so much because hes not the best climber but there are plenty of examples. He attacked Lance on Verbier. He was working for Basso so stayed with him most of the time but attacked on Grappa descent.

He attacked plenty of times in the Vuelta which won him the race. He did it on those 2 early stages, then attacked from the pack with Purito, then attacked Purito, on that stage Purito won. He threw it all in on the Poggio this year and he attacked everyone on Passo di Giau. In this case the descent of course.

The day before that he got back to Contador then attacked Contador on the Chernabog. How many people have tried that one on Contador.

Nibali has balls. Seeing him ride for Astana would be great but I think he likes the Basso partnership. Unless he wants to ride the Tour as leader which is probably the reason why he might go.

Good call. The all for Wiggo mode is p1ssing most off & if that gets doubled into all for Cav then no other cyclist is going matter much. I'd get out as well.

Porte needs to go somewhere where he can be leader. He'll get lost at Sky.

I think many teams would be interested in Pauwels, don't you?

He's had a pretty bad couple of years, through both injury and loss of form.

Sky do still rate his potential though. For his future's sake he better hope he makes the Vuelta team, and hope he rides well enough to impress.

Rogers to GreenEDGE???

I hope that Micky Rogers will go to GrenEDge but...I don´t see this clear!!!!!!
Ballan would be a good rider for GreenEDGE in the classics, if Pozzato sign with Lampre.

All of those have been going around for a fair while. Hunt I think was only ever on one year, he fitted the bill, experience and british but they are looking to make the team younger not older. Pauwells, never really worked for him at sky (and a lot of other teams). Last year he had illness and his studies, this year illness. Im not overly convinced the guy has that edge that you need to really push and be a top pro. Arvesen will almost certainly be a DS but wether its at sky is another matter, they have a lot of ds's now. Augustyn has obviously been injured and will probably drop down a level. Downing, i dont think will be renewed but I think he will, and should get a ride at another team fairly easily, hes a hard working guy, and a good leadout man, think a lot of teams will make him offers. Henderson, has already had offers from Greenedge but denies there is any truth in the rumours.

Porte has been rumoured since this time last year, and will continue to be. For what its worth, we actually removed richie porte from our transfer rumours pageabout 3 weeks ago when information came in that it would not happen.

Definate signings so far, Henao and Rowe.

Other rumours: Fenn (I dont think he will, but i may be wrong) as well as most of the HTC team.

Agree with Porte. I dont think Hendos problem is wiggins, more that he has become second fiddle to Appo and Swift. Henderson is another one that is not getting any younger.

See above. I think Pauwells is more likely to go to one of the northern european teams, vaconsoliel, somewhere like that. Cant see any big bucks offers coming in for him.

Fwiw, i believe that 8 riders will be leaving sky. My guess at the eight.

Henderson
Sutton
Pauwells
Carlstrom
Arvesen
Hunt
Augustyn
Rogers

Possibly, Barry, Froome, or Downing.

Note that who i think will go, and who i want to go are not the same thing.
