This forum/ thread is going to explode soon. I wonder who SBS will sign, whether Cav sticks with the HTC crew and who will Gilbert go to/ stay at???

PG: “The situation is quite complicated,” he said, according to L’Équipe. “We’re talking with a lot of teams, it won’t be easy to give an answer before August 1. I understand that the press wants to know where I’ll ride next year. I’ll announce it as quickly as possible, because it’s quite an uncomfortable situation for me.”

Paradoxically, that makes me think he has made up his mind.

Yeah. "It won't be easy to give an answer before August 1," says to me that there is an answer, he just isn't in a position to talk about it yet.

With Astana losing Vinos points from 10&11, i'm sure they are not giving up quickly on Gilbert as they would most likely lose their world tour spot without a significant replacement.

It's not like Astana was that significant itself last season...

If Astana really needed the points, surely Vinokourov could just sign up for show and then retire in January?

yes that would be cool.
I would just like to see him get a go, regardless of the team.

maltiv also suggested he would be valuable in terms of uci points (for pro team) because of his points in the african division.

That was me actually. I wonder if GE reads these forums or if they are looking at riders in the same way I was doing. Teklehaimanot certainly makes a lot of sense for a team looking to get a PT license to sign right now.

I would hate for Porte to go to Sky. They are so ITT orientated and he would be a domestique. Wiggins is the only one who can ride for himself in most races along with Uran, EBH and Geraint in the smaller ones. Not that i don't like Sky i just think teams like GE, BMC and SBS offer something different. I think riders will shy away from Katusha, drug scandal and Pozzatos' situation. Astana have got a good team with Zeits and a few others shooting through and Kreuziger who can get a top 10 and win Tour of Suisse type races.

If he went to Sky he'd probably get to ride for the GC of lesser races and maybe a secondary GT.

I don't see how that's any different to what he'd get at SBS or BMC, where he'd just be a domestique for Contador or Evans. GE it really depends on what their roster turns out to be. If the rest of the roster is filled with the likes of Goss, Howard, Sutton as anticipated... what's the point in his being there other than patriotism? And even then, he's Tasmanian...

:eeek: BMC are going to have an uber awesome team next year! BMC generally announce their signings quite late so we may have to wait a while before they do announce any of their signings.
