Really? where did you hear that?

Cycling New put an article. He said he wants to spend more time with the family. That's what gave it away for me. I could be wrong.

Yeah I think the US circuit is where he'll end up. BMC has a few guys like him that are still there from BMC's Continental days, at least for him with BMC becoming a Pro Tour Team he had the opportunity to race in Europe at the highest level.

That's a pretty big geography fail.
But pretty funny, nonetheless.

Oh, the "great" Anzhi... Manchester City for the slightly poorer....

Makhachkala is in Dagestan .

My sincere apologies to any of our friends from Russia :)

I read that are in Chechnya, I know the guy who owns Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax is from Chechnya.

You probably confused them with Terek Grozny which is also a club that has been throwing around a ****load of money recently, including a surely expensive couple months with Ruud Gullit as manager.

Gabriel Rasch linked to Team Sky.
Source: procycling.no

in what capacity.

Hes 35, it makes little sense, doesnt fit in with Sky's potential v cost argument. Possibly in a coaching capacity, if they havnt managed to hang onto Arvesen.

would seem odd, unless he was willing to ride for the minimum wage.

Presumably as a steady head for the cobbles if Arvesen does indeed retire or move upstairs. Whether Rasch is good enough at this point to get into the cobbles team is definitely debatable.

I can't see him not going to BMC.

Rumours from velonation:

Garmin lost Hushovd but signed Rosseler & Rasmussen, JV said team's net gains will more than offset losses suggesting a big name rider could be on the way

Gilbert's agent said its between QuickStep & BMC, meeting with Lefevere & Lelangue but that in sporting terms it's clear that BMC are a step ahead of the rest of the pack.

HTC: Renshaw admits to Rabobank discussions, Cavendish & Eisel to Sky, Marco Pinotti to Liquigas and Ghyselinck to Cofidis.

Pozzato to Lampre / Farnese

i do take procyling.no with a large pinch of salt. They insisted the day before the tour squads that Arvesen was definately going to the tour (again, quoted Lungvist) and he wasnt. They then insisted that Arvesen was #1 reserve if EbH couldnt make it, he wasnt. And some of their Huschovd rumours over the last couple of years have been way off.

Their norwegian bias gets the better of them sometimes.

He'd be an excellent addition to their cobbles team. Would be a great helper for Flecha.

He's not gonna cost much at all and would be a nice replacement for Arvesen in the cobbled classics IMO. This year he was 23 in P-R. Would have placed even higher if Vaughters hadn't called him back from the lead group.

thought this was worth a mention - Marco Pinotti might be moving to Liquigas-Cannondale

says in on the cn home site.
guess you can drop the charade that he is a good rider now ;)
I never really said he was. I don't think every BMC rider is a good rider. Don't get sucked in to believing a silly generalisation.

I'd say they're usually pretty well informed. They called Hushovd to BMC a long time ago. Whether Arvesen was reserve number one or not I might as well take procycling.no's word for it as yours, if memory serves me right you were a bit off on what you published as their Tour roster the day before it was released ;)

i was only a couple out on the tour roster, like everyone I was just speculating. On the tour reserve i spoke to the partner of the reserve the weekend of the decision, was as informed as i could be without speaking to the rider himself.

Sky are possibly decreasing the roster slightly so it may be that he is a knees type signing, available, cheap, so give it a go.

No word at all on Arvesen, everyones assumption is DS, i just wonder where? Hunch is still leopard

He is good enough for any team in P-R, I mean he was Garmin-Cervelos 4th strongest man this year (Hushovd, Vansummeren and Vanmarcke being stronger), and very few teams are better than garmin-cervelo as a whole...However, I don't quite see why he should go to sky as they already have a strong cobbled team. I'd rather see them renew Nordhaug's contract, which I don't think they have done yet?

edit: I just realized why Sky might want him. He's an expert when it comes to positioning in cross winds, the last 3 years he's been in the front echolon on more or less every stage of tour of qatar. Needless to say, Sky has something to learn there!

Thinking about it some more, there's the possibility of Hayman, Hunt, Arvesen all leaving their cobbles team. Appollonio and Swift both want to ride cobbles eventually, but I do think there would be room for Rasch, especially in that Hayman role should he leave.
