From the front page

The Team Type 1 - Sanofi squad will bring in two Frenchmen for the team in 2012, adding Julien El Fares from Cofidis and Julien Antomarchi of the La Pomme Marseille squad

I can't see how signing for Sky is better for his development as a GC rider over staying at Saxo, regardless of whether Conti's racing or not. But maybe a big bag of money helps.

Probably a $$$ thing (don't blame him).

I think that things could have got rocky between Richie and Bjarne at the end of last season where it seemed like he wanted to leave a year early. Porte probably made his mind up last year about leaving, so I guess it was always going to be hard to change that decision and resign with Riis. It's good that he's leaving on reasonable terms though, and seemed to enjoy his season with Contador.

Will probably get less opportunities at Sky though. Saxo are thin after Contador. Sky have Wiggins, Uran (maybe leaving?), Henao, Lofkvist, Rogers, EBH and possibly Siutsou. Not to mention the likelihood of the Cav factor.

I think Porte being smart maybe less chance for leadership but which team has the best back-up staff - SKY, Brad McGee has helped massively but people forget 26 year old neo-pro he still needs help to develop - 2 years at SKY will help then at 28 sign as and out and out leader at a team if and it´s a big if at this stage if he makes the next step.

Strange Portes moving to Sky he does fit that rider profile and could do will in short stage races but I think he's lacking in the mountains and I can't think of he will get as any chances to lead as he would at Saxobank ( who expect to pull out a couple of big signing by the way). Hey maybe its as simple as he has friends there or he is jealous if the best bus on the peloton :)

Heard that mentioned on commentary during the tour. Seems strange after just a year. Any idea where it is coming from / reasons?

Yeah it surprised me I heard that ad well but its the 1st I've heard of him being unsettled. I'm sure there would be loads of teams who would love to have him.

Well, from reading a bit between the lines in Riis interviews last year when there was Porte roumors, it seemed that they were of very different oponions of what Porte was worth in salary.
I think Riis knows Porte will be good, but he probably wont be "anglo-saxon-overhyped-good" that some people seem to think. Personally I believe that Riis is very good at getting value for his salary money, and Porte just doesnt fit into that anymore. *shrugs*

But that being said, Riis really need some new signings. Has there been any SBS roumers apart from one or two young danes?

They're in the WorldTour and no doubt still will be there next year so their attendance will be compulsory at all WorldTour races.

If they lose Contador's points, they're gonna get in trouble.

Well if you lived in Monte Carlo like Porte does, can you blame him?

Contadors case will be decided after the license procedure is over, so Saxo Bank will get a WT spot for sure.

Too bad, because without Contador, they wouldn't be in the top 20 and they wouldn't even be considered.

In other words, without him, they're gonna turn into another Footon, a worthless addition to the WT. Then again, the same could be said about Astana without Vino.

...except that without Cobtador they still have won a monument this year.

Anyone read the CN guide to transfers? No miracle so many people get confused when the worlds centre of cycling publishes a list with so many mistakes and omissions.

What are the mistakes? I didn't spot any obvious mistakes except for a few omissions of clearly confirmed transfers.

omissions = mistakes

f.ex kelderman and bol are confirmed to go to Rabo PT a long time ago and are missing. But Rathe and Howes are there, probably because it's Garmin and CN only remembers anglo-news.

Google translate gave them Cellar Man and Globe and they thought: what the hell is this about? So they just left them out.

Well the fact that most of their readers are from English speaking nations it isn't very surprising that they mostly report and know about anglo teams & riders news.

Well, it's not like our cónfirmed transfer page is complete either. It's also missing some confirmed transfers. Though not as many.

If you can be bothered post them and I will update.
