Im curious about a lot of the neos.

Think Demare will have a really good first year. Further interested in Kelderman, Battaglin, Novikov, Durbridge, Haas, Henao, Moser, Hepburn, Simon and some others :p.

Also curious about Aru (and Cattaneo but he is already mentioned) although he wont be joining the pros till august if im right.

I'm curious to see how the BMC devo team will do. Most of the guys on it seem to have very little experience, but who knows what will happen.

Yeh, Trentin, Agostini, Cattaneo (not joining Lampre until later in the year though). Also Novikov, obviously.

Dont forget Puccio. Will be interesting to see what Sky do with him this year.

One thing will be interesting will be the giro squad. Possoni leaving, Cioni retiring, only leaves Appollonio and Puccio on the squad (albeit two very promising young riders). The Italian market is really important to Sky, but will they risk Puccio in a GT so early on.. cant see it, which only leaves Appo. Unless they plan on giving Puccio run outs at Strade Bianche and some other smaller Italian races (Confident they will do Strade Bianche this year. Think they have been buttering up RCS)

Appolonio and G would make a pretty good leadout for Cavendish. Although I feel kinda sorry for Appo who deserves to get his own chances, particularly in Italy. Who knows, perhaps Cav will let him win a stage or two to please the Italian market...

If the yellow jersey on Columbia has to do lead out then I don't think Appo will be left to his own devices to get a stage win. But then again I also don't think/hope Sky won't make guys like Heano, Wiggins, Froome, Urám etc. do lead out either.

Sky have interest in Italy though so the marketing value of Appo winning will probably be higher than of Cavendish winning, so I just mean that if they're in a chance for a 1-2 Cavendish might hit the brakes.

Since Gianetti seems to have 2 offers, he's staying.
http://c-cycling.blogspot.com/2011/11/exclusive-new-sponsor-just-around.html

"No matter what deal Mauro Gianetti and and Josean Fernández Matxin end up taking, the leader of the team next year will still be Vuelta España winner Juanjo Cobo who, not like Menchov, Duarte, Felline, Ardila etc., has chosen to stay with the team in this difficult time."

It makes sense. His points are worth nothing now the deadline's passed, the salary he can demand as a GT winner is too high for most teams to put in since a lot of the rosters are already set (and there isn't a team that would willingly break the bank for him like Katyusha would Menchov, especially since there are only two Spanish WT teams, one of which he isn't eligible for, and the other he rode for previously and I think both parties agreed it's best if they don't work together), and also for Gianetti and Matxin, having Cobo = guaranteed invite to at least one GT, which is bargaining power.

I agree but I hope that having cobo in the team will be good enough to get invited to the Vuelta. But the team needs to have a minimum depth and they lost already a number of their core riders.

Given that they gave Andalucía an invite to the 2011 Vuelta and Contentpolis in 2009, minimum depth probably isn't too much of a problem. And without a drugs issue I'd be very surprised if they simply refuse to invite the defending champion.

you're right about that, Andalucia were probably the worst Pro Conti team this year.
