And yet, he was so inferior to Scarponi he came 46" short of beating him and winning the Giro.

Personally love to see Roche under Riis management at SAXO, Roche would go next level and add some good points. He a star that is yet to shine his brightest IMO.

nibali's vuelta win was a fluke against either sh*tty riders and those that were good, got injured. he''s never been close to winning the giro either. in fatc he must count his lucky stars he finished on the podium in both cases. he;s also not improving at all. maybe his itt has improved this year. we will see.

I'd rather look for improvement in in high mountains over multiple days and long(er) time trials than 1-day races when looking at GT ability.

But who knows, this might be too irrational.

Well he came 2nd at LBL, 3rd at M-SR but he also won T- A so he is filling both quotas.

His ITT's have definetly improved. He is of course not up to the level of Evans/ Wiggins in that department but he is better than some and will improve.

IMHO, would have been great to see Di Luca, Garzelli for ASA and Pellizotti for Androni in this year´s Giro, would have put much more quality to the peloton..

Is this in the pipeline? Because on paper they seem stronger than a lot of World Tour teams.

Don't they have a very limited budget? Probably not substantial enough for WT. Even if they win the Giro and Lombardia to manage top15, I doubt they would step up unless Savio gets a big sponsor.
