Looks like no World Tour for Euskaltel - as it should be. Only Argos - Shimano outside top 15 can change that.

Argos is the last team that need to be in Wt, Euskaltel can at least compete in three GTs every year.

This year Euskaltel hasn't really been competing in GC. They have two top tens but have they really impacted the fight for the podium? I think not. They also lack a proper spring classics rider or sprinter.

That's only cos Samu crashed out of the Tour.

They've managed 2nd in Catalunya (+1 stage), 1st in País Vasco (+2 stages), a stage of the Giro, 5th in the Tour de Suisse with some good stage placements, 7th in the Tour de Pologne, some top 5s of mountain stages at the Tour and Giro, 2nd in a Dauphiné stage, the top 10 of Amstel Gold and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the podium of Giro di Lombardia, the top 15 of Gent-Wevelgem (!)

They're actually a lot more all-round than people give them credit for, and certainly with Mikel Landa and Ion Izagirre there are some bright prospects for the future (Izagirre in particular is more of an all-rounder than Euskaltel typically produce, thanks partly to his cyclocross background). They've really suffered from the reductions to the Spanish calendar though, as they continue to have good results in that, but there are ever fewer races for them to pick up the non-WT sporting criteria points.

Argos lacks GC contenders in every race with a climb in it basically. By spring classics you mean the cobbeled classics since they can compete in the ardennes. I agree with Anton having a ****ty year but I think that he can still do more uphill than anyone in Argos. Argos is the best example of what's wrong with the UCI point system: it's all about wins and the majority of races are flat enough for a sprinter to win. Libertine Seguros think that it wuld be horrible to see Stapleton back and I agree, but Argos is just a worse version of HTC.

Meh, Argos adds sprinters to every stage race, both for pan flat stages and for more difficult stages, Euskaltel adds climbers to every stage race.

Euskaltel have Samu and Anton who could do well in hilly classics but don't really seem to target them, Argos have Degenkolb who has demonstrated doing well on cobbles, MSR, etc.

Both teams have some good talents....

I'd say they add about the same to the WT, but since Argos have way more points, it's pretty fair that they should be picked over Euskaltel. I'd rather have it the other way around as well, but Euskaltel, through bad luck, and sucking just didn't get enough points this year so they don't get to be WT. Not much to complain about.

With Contadors history and the **** that could yet come up in the Armstrong scandal, Contador would be stupid to assume he has a 100% guaranteed spot at the Tour for 2013.

CAV in SBTB was that Tinkoff wanted in July, according to the "great" commentator, here.

Europcar doesnt want a WT spot (economic issues) so I reckon SBTB will be pretty safe in regard to a WT spot even if not endning in top 15
