Levi LEIPHEIMER

Expect more surprising news about the team Caja Rural.
The american rider is a one of the possible options for the composition in 2013 season, given their experience into three Grand Tour.
Improved ranking of Levi in la Vuelta'13, would not be a surprise after to his 2th place in 2008.

Only 2 posts on this forum. Both about Caja Rural and both highly improbable and without source. Speak out or shut up.

Is the bank guarantee to the UCI the same as having the operating budget available?

Is this a rhetorical question? Personally I can't answer it, I always thought that bank guarantee meant enough money for 2 years, at least that's how Becca has made it sound at occasions ... but I might be wrong.

I don't know either!

What I think the bank guarantee is, is an amount you have to give the UCI before you are eligible for a license. The UCI holds the sum, the guarantee is there in case the team collapses as a means of protecting the employees. It's not what you draw on to run your team. So unless Becca means that he has guaranteed funding for the team, they still need to find sponsor(s) if RNT withdraw.

I think he's best of at an Italian or Spanish team so he can do giro or vuelta and have a slightly better chance of a stage win.

If he's willing to take a step down, well degenkolb could use a leadout man.

lol. haedo could never be a lead out man

The bank garanty for Leopard S.A. (holder of the license) was given for 4 years, so they can go on at least another 2 years, even without a sponsor

a bank guarantee doesn't mean you can continue. it's only a "guarantee" that that money is there. only a fraction of it is going to uci as back up. basically it's nothing an in case of emergency durign season. there is money from the team within uci to pay out riders some

Christina Watches have made a deal with Colnago reg. supply of bikes next season. According to their latest bombastic press release next year they'll field a team with "Danish, Italian, German, Spanish and Australian touch" - it's gonna be interesting to see which riders (?) from Spain and Australia they are talking about.

(Source: http://www.feltet.dk/nyheder/ny_storsponsor__til_christina_watches/)

Maybe they will overtake Luke Roberts from Saxobank, or perhaps they have a young Australian talent in mind (Caleb Ewan or Timothy Roe anyone? :D - both might benefit from the clean influence of The Chicken). And could the Spanish rider be Arkaitz Duran, who have dominated the amateur scene in Spain this season? I'm sure he wants to try again at a higher level, and it doesn't seem like Movistar will take him onboard.

Finally, good for Cav. OPQS will be able to give him the leadout squad he deserves.

In the end a bad move for Cav (ethical-wise).

I thought that the Levi issue (and OQPS's position here) may finally change his decision.

I agree, dopers should get away without any punishment what so ever when they snitch. Everyone should be allowed to dope as long as you have information about other cyclists. Good moral lesson for young kids watching the sport.

And these people are 100% to be trusted and should never be doubted because no doubt Leipi's biggest results in his career all came right after he started racing clean.

Ps: Cav rode for HTC for years, I doubt he cares about ethics in his team choice.

Belgian team makes weird decision: El Pistolero jumps to the defense, with his trademark warped logic.

I've been saying for months already the likes of Vandevelde and Danielson should be banned for a full 2 years or scrap their results for the period in which they confessed. ;)

I really don't understand how all these anti-doping crusaders here on CN all of a sudden consider the likes of Tyler Hamilton heroes.

What do you mean by weird decision? They bought Leipi purely for the points and now they don't need him anymore, so this was a good excuse as any to fire him. It's a perfectly normal decision with the current WT system.

At least QS have the guts to fire him unlike Sky/BMC/Rabobank approach of a rider all of a sudden retiring.

Why is it seen as a bad move for Cav ethical wise? They acted quickly and got shut of Levi.

Sky are still *****footing around.

Good luck to him, I am looking forward to seeing him next season. Its been a but up and down for him this season, will be good to see a (hopefully) more balanced season for him
