I'm sure they'll find a way for Nordhaug to return to Sky. It makes no sense to demand him to stay, if the future of the white label team is uncertain. Even if contractually he's obliged to ride for them.

Which makes me think: where will Vanmarcke go? Will he stay at Garmin after all?
Indeed. Sky probably regretted not offering Nordhaug a bigger contract after his victory in Montreal and his worlds performance. Rabobank allegedly offered him a contract that was almost twice as large as the one Sky offered.

Didn't Vanmarcke also consider RSNT? I doubt he'll stay with Garmin after their disagreements. And RSNT desperately needs a stronger cobbles domestique for Cancellara.

Vanmarcke being a domestique for Cancellara? I doubt it.

Yep: they may well regret that, but I can´t see how he could come back: its not as if Sky gave him lots of oppertunities, and once you´re gone, you´re gone.
Doesn´t sound to me like Rabbobank were a well run operation if they offered him twice what Sky did though!

I think Nordhaug will still join 'Rabobank', or whatever you want to call it. Rumours there's already a(n) (unnamed) company willing to step in for sponsorship.

Kocjan, Vrecer, Schulze, Radochla also to Euskaltel. 7 non-Basques for next season now.

:(

All except for Lobato have signed for one season, so maybe if the Basque boys get their act together they won't need anyone else the season after.

I go crazy... :D Radochla and Schulze to Euskaltel??? Transfers of the century!! They lose Koldo Fernandez, but hey, in order to for Green in Paris, just sign Schulze and Radochla!!

:eek::eek:

Schulze and Radochla will be Vacansoleil´s Morajko and Novikov 2012... 35 Race days, lots of DNF...

If nothing else, they just got plenty of roster filler for the northern Classics and other races Euskaltel don't have any presence at. Maybe they're hoping to pick up cheap points with Radochla in the German classics calendar, since it consists mostly of crappy flat one-day races, and Frankfurt.

Schulze and Radochla have combined about 50 UCI wins in their palmares. More than the current Euskaltel squad together.

A great step for both of them. :)

If they joined Euskaltel 10 years ago, the could have a career there.. Nowadays, they are too old. Top10 finishes at flat 1.1 races without big WT competition will be maximum.

Japanese rider Nariyuki Masuda is apparently signing for Cannondale next season, comes from the Utsunomiya - Blitzen team.

Figured out that the top box says Cannondale (キャノンデール) and the second one says Liquigas (リクイガス). No doubt thanks to Cannondale being big in Japan apprently (they run a team there).

His palmares looks very weak though - http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/rider.asp?riderid=4247

Time ago there was the rumors that Cannondale wanted a japanese and a chinese rider.
Personally I would have picked up Junya Sano as he's much more confortable with EU racing.

Vrecer and Kocjan would probably be in their top10. Mestre is worth a shot.

They need sprinters so Lobato, Schulze and Serebryakov will all give them something to play for when the break inevitably comes back.

Overall they are names which give them more variety, and can be used to target smaller races at the start and end of the season.

There's still a Greek rider to come apparantly.

But yeah, this takes the special sauce away a bit.

Horrible, at least when you throw away your entire identity - sell your soul - do some good transfers. Romance is dead.

The only regret I have is that it's only 1 year contrats. I'm afraid that it means that Euskaltel is only using their points and next year they'll be thrown out. Hopefully Mestre will show something by then, but my hopes aren't very high considering that he's not used to race a full calendar like he will next year.

On the bright side, the fact that none of this are top riders, means that Euskaltel will still be full of basque riders on the races that really matters (except the northern classics maybe - go Izaguirre :D )

It is the uci way.

No. They could've bought guys like Rujano, Niño, Baez, Betancur etc. - extremely talented climbers.

They are traditionally a team made of attacking climbers - buying old Russian, Slovenian and German riders destroys everything Euskaltel once stood for...

Ag2r 2012 = Euskaltel 2013

What a shame.

They could've - but they didn't have money for them.

So they had to go around the other way of avoiding drop and they suceeded. And some of those riders are quite intresting.

Do you prefer then if Euskaltel ceased at all ? Becuase they were close to this year...

some good transfer news for coldeportes. they signed edwin avila (world champion track points race), alexis camacho(best friend of quintana and very good allround rider) and the 2 stagiares of this year juan pablo valencia and duber quintero.

corti also has gotten permission to look out of r2/3 european riders but only if great opportunity arises. mostly for experience in gt's and ttt
