Thor's points last season weren't the problem, JV has another logic.
The Vuelta gives you a training advantage for the next spring season, JV simply didn't want any classics riders who were leaving have that advantage.
If he doesn't do this he'll stengthen his future opponents.
Really, how many points would Hushovd have gotten had he ridden the Vuelta? Same goes for Vanmarcke.

Riis' logic also makes no sense, as teams already know who's leaving.
Kreuziger was also mysteriously left out of the Vuelta, while Riis still hasn't announced signing him.

This is when people start questioning why so and so didn't work with so and so to take the win and instead were reeled in by the pack when they had the win between the two (to guarantee the A.H. He's had an ok season, can probably earn more as an occasional leader at Cofidis than as a domestique with Contador. Riis probably doesn't want to pay the premium for him to stay when he's still to show if he can be as good as he was in the 2010 Tour (that means he's replaceable).

Too many teams with cash and not enough good free agents. Unless RNT and LIQ folds (or merge) there is no supply of good riders.

Riis has stated several times over during the last couple of weeks that he will not reveal a number of the riders he has signed. His main reason is that they might be treated like Fuglsang, i.e. prevented from racing in larger point giving events.

Personally I think that he will reveal 3-4 medium to big names, and a number of minor ones.

If memory serves me right- Contador has been literally "begging" Riis for reinforcements-to which Bjarne stated "publicly" that "HE HAD NO MONEY"- when the entire world knows he got a lot of cash for the Cancellara release & also that Specialized was behind the transition to Saxo & not Riis himself- so going fast forward here in 2012-could you tell me how many riders has he hired lately? He always claims he's got "financial issues" and yet he finds the money & sponsors- so for him to play this "how much can I get for nothing" philosophy is why nobody is eager to sign with him at all......

Fulgsang's agent confirms that he has signer for Astana. Also he elaborates that the contract states that he will be Tour captain. Nibali will then be captain in the Giro and the Vuelta.

Imho its a smart choise by Nibali to focus on the other 2 GTs. HE can rest well between then and he will have a decent chance of winning which will be a far-fetched possibility in the Tour.

He announced he wouldn´t prolong with RSN, imidiately after JB banned him from riding more WT races, no tour, no Vuelta etc. even said it PUBLIC, he can´t earn value points for his new team...

U missed the point. Fido wasnt talking about Fuglsang joining SBTB, he was using him as an example of why Riis isnt announcing his signings. Roche was onlt annouced cos he announced it himself and cos AG2R was kind enought to let him continue his normail schedule.
