Dombrowski would be great sporting-wise. Does that Bontrager team do any training in Italy? I would think riders with some Italian experience would have a much easier time of it. I guess there's going to be a lot more English spoken on that team next year but it's not just about the language.

Not sure if the train in Italy, but being a American u23 team who's biggest races this year were all in the US I would assume they do most of their training in the US.
Dombrowski did win the Giro-Bio, I bet Liquigas would love to sign him because of this.

According to the BBC Cavendish makes £2 million a year at Sky and has a £1 million release fee in his deal. Can anyone afford that?

OPQS.

As reported last year, OPQS offered Cavendish even more money than Sky did. But he choose Sky due several reasons ( seems like bad choice now :p )
But OPQS could definitely afford him.

So do BMC / Katusha / ( Astana ). But I can't see him going to any of those 3 teams.

I always thought he was an underrated rider... then he won Lombardia and vanished off the face of the earth.

Didnt he win the prize for one of the climbs in this years Giro before the Stelvio?

He climbed the narrow road, got to the top first then de Gendt caught him and then went on?

Yeah he dropped Carrara (as he waited for De Gendt) and was first over the top of the Mortirolo.

Just wanted to post that. He'll bring some points with him.

Bennati brings 88 points with him (Vuelta stage win included) and Zaugg brings 50 points. According to Nicosix's blog http://nicosix.wordpress.com/author/nicosix/ that should move SBTB up to 17th place from 20th previously in the UCI sporting value ranking.

16th - Lampre - 599

17th - SBTB - 505

18th - Argos - 449

-------------------

19th - Europcar - 431

20th - Euskaltel - 404

Given the way that SBTB have been buying up points with Bennati, Zaugg and Kump (66 points) the only real doubt over next year's world tour at this stage is who gets the last place - Argos, Europcar or Euskaltel.

Does that include Kreuziger too?

No. His points (110) would pretty much guarantee SBTB's place in the world tour unless the likes of Argos, Europcar and Euskaltel go crazy in the transfer market (unlikely).

How many points are needed for WT status?
You cannot know. 15th place is a guarantee, 18th place should be sufficient for new applicants, 20th place is sufficient for teams with an ongoing WT license
