so atapuma and chaves stay and very good news. the team seems serious business. they were also invited at the giro 2013 presentation.

I hope more riders will be confirmed. especially strong ones from the colombian circuit like infantino, cano and other younger ones.

Third best is what he said behind Contador and Purito. Has Rujano ever worked for anyone in a grand tour? If he has motivation issues now how can he get motivated riding for someone else? Only way I can imagine it is if he and Contador have been in contact since the 2011 Giro and have bonded in some way. Rujano obviously respects Contador but he is way too inconsistent and wishy-washy to invest in but Contador see's something in him. I think even Riis would have trouble getting him in line and reaching his true potential. Contador is on the record saying that he prefers that his Tour teams be focused on ushering him to the top step of the podium, with little if any leeway for the support to pursue their own interests. Rujano really doesn't fit that mold.

Inconsistent and motivation issues. He has even been accused of not trying. Would you want this rider on your team no matter how much talent he has shown every few years ? He is one rider I would not sign. A wasted talent.

He's not a bad rider, even this season he got some decent results in Trentino and Langkawi. That's the level of races where he can excel.

He's just not that unique supertalent that Ryo wants us to think he is. Yeah, everyone can be great in a lab, even Francis de Greef is.

Perhaps Sky and especially Cav should have thought about that before making a commitment. Everyone was talking about the chances of the two parts clashing because of their different agendas before his move from HTC.

This new trend with declaring unsatisfiedness while having 2-3 years left of a contract and forcing it to mean **** all by creating a big fuss about it in the press is devaluing the whole meaning of signing one in the first place. Fabian was another example. If they want free of it they should come up with a compensation to the team. Who and how it's paid is pretty irrelevant to me.

And it's not even like Cav has been bad and won next to zero. He has been pretty good considering the different circumstances he has had in comparison to his HTC days. Won plenty of races.

There was no possibility of staying at Sky once Brailsford said in Paris at the end of the tour that he would be best suited to another team as Sky would now be going all out for GC's. This was then said again by Wiggins only about a week later which put Cav in an impossible position. There's a very good interview in this months Cycle Sport which explains the situation perfectly.

Maybe the deal was we let you go for free, but we keep Bernie.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Eisel. If he stays will he just be a road captain like the article suggests or might he get a chance on some of the cobbles?

that's what i thought too

He'll probably lead Sky at Paris-Roubaix.

Both Brailsford (with his Team GB hat on) & Cav himself thought he could win the Olympic RR this year with the right preparation. The only way they can be confident of Cav being allowed the right preparation is to use Sky's money to bring him into Team Sky for the Olympic year under Brailsford's control with a gentlemans agreement to terminate the contract after.

I think this is just a case of Brailsford using Sky's money to further his Team GB aims. Sure, they could have just made it a one year contract but I think Sky might have got suspicious at that :)

Very interesting. I hope he will get his chances there and isn't just signed because of his points. He shouldn't be.
Why wouldn't he get his chances? It's not like Argos is a star studded team filled with super riders.

In fact, I think that's why he chose to go there.

He's probably signed both for points, which Argos need to become WT and for te fact he's a great sprinter talent, while Argos-Shimano is mostly a sprinter team.

Argos-Shimano have sucked a bit in developing talents, but wen it comes to sprinters they seem to do okay with their young sprinters, looking at Degenkolb and Kittel. So I hope Rensburg can have similar succes with them, and then they'll have three of the biggest promising young sprinters. :)

Because Argos have got Degenkolb and Kittel and might want to use Veelers as third choice given his performances in the Tour.

van rensburg isn't a sprinter
Let's make that "Van Rensburg isn't just a sprinter", then we can start agreeing.

Degenkolb can't do every race.
That's why I mentioned Kittel and Veelers as well.

Anyway, he'll probably get his chances. I merely stated that I hope he will. I never said he wouldn't or couldn't make it.

But Ryo is correct, he's not a sprinter, at least not one in the Kittel mould. He could do the same race as Kittel and their aims wouldn't conflict, Reinardt wouldn't be in the top20 in the world for big bunch sprints. Degenkolb is the only one on their squad who could win some of the stages Reinardt could.
