 Whereas fans of all other nations prefer dull, banal, ugly sport?

where do I say that? for dutch it's just more important the way how than just the result. even when netherlands took wc 2010 finals there was a lot of criticism. something that might only happen in brazil of all other football nations

Give it 1 - 2 years, and GreenEDGE will dominate the pro tour, UK postal vs AU postal, epic battle.

True dat. If you can turn Track pursuiters into GT winners by whatever method, GE have them coming out the wahzoo.

Good signing, but umm... another "sprinter".

Davis or Keukleire to leave?

My sacrifice would be Leigh Howard who has proven utterly ineffectual nay insipid in his outings this year. Guaranteed to crack a pout once things turn the slightest bit hard. Might also be somewhat of a shot across the ego of Mister Mopey aka Matthew Harley Goss who has demonstrated a similar propensity this season.

Davis is getting on but can at least bring home a few reasonable placings through a season. Keukeleire & Langeveld look to be passable prospects for races like E3, G-W & RvV.

Not sure OGE can carry two superannuants on thr roster in O'Grady & Dean soit will be interesting whether one or both moves on or to an off-bike role. Other than Howard, my other discard would be Travis Meyer (the much lesser brother) who is beyond his level at WT level & possibly even Pro Conti

Ben Hermans was left out of the Vuelta selection at RSNT because Bruyneel wants to get as much points as possible because if the Schlecks leave he hasn't that much points left...
so we might assume they leave at the end of the season...

"Ik moet me nu concentreren op de grote eendagskoersen. In de Vuelta is voor mij geen plaats. Johan Bruyneel wil daarin veel punten voor de WorldTour verdienen. Als de Schlecks vertrekken, heeft hij te weinig punten voor volgend jaar. Omdat ik in Spanje moeilijk bij de eerste tien kan eindigen, ben ik gewisseld. Ik ga voor ereplaatsen in Plouay, Montreal en Quebec.'"

That's why I say it fainted a bit. But after these Euros all of a sudden all people started to say they were fed up with the way of playing from about 2010 anyway. Kinda shows their ignorance as well...
If it helps I was calling them out on their horribly un-Dutch football all along the 2010 WC and was happy that they lost so that stylistic shift didn't become permanent.

Surprisingly statement by JB
They are both on contract, just like Canc is, and he won´t challenge those contracts if they choose to leave?

Dosen´t sound like JB at all, and I can´t imagine Canc wanna stay if all his friends are leaving: Stuie, Voigt, Gerdeman, Fuglsang and the Schlecks.

Mind blowing.

No, but if their nation wins or does well they usually don't care in which way it was achieved. When the Dutch footbal team got to the WC final, which is a big achievement, 'experts' like Johan Cruijff were still complaining about the poor quality of football by the Dutch team.

Is this even remotely on topic btw?

What on earth do they think of Mollema and Gesink's riding styles? Definitely not beautiful.

I think CAS is the worst stylist on a bike, with Gesink very close in 2nd.
So agree on your view.

still a mystery surrounding vanmarcke. Like previously stated it will not be Garmin but he has not publicly stated which team it will be. Rabobank has got a good shot

http://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/19144/sep-vanmarcke-heb-mijn-keuze-gemaakt.html

Pity if the Rabos take him, he would have fitted perfectly in on Saxo and getting a shared leader role in the cobbles, and maybe even as THE leader since Saxo lack a real cobbles specialist.
This UCI point system just sucks, I hope that we at the end of the year have gotten rid of the big fat piggy Paddy and replaced with someone competent instead.

Saxo do have Nuyens though, he might not be a clear favourite in every cobbled race, but he's definitely a good outsider + Nuyens is one of the few Saxo riders who actually have UCI points behind their name, so I don't think they'll get rid of him. Now, a combination of Vanmarcke and Nuyens (and possibly Cance?) would be a very strong cobbled team, but Vanmarcke probably wouldn't sign if Cancellara does.

True, though Nuyens haven´t showed anything since RvV, absolutely nothing, and hes not the biggest specialist on the cobbles, but do ok.
If he should ever win PR it would take a lot of luck.

Why wouldn´t Vanmarcke join if Canc were there to?

Can´t imagine you could get a better teacher and inspiration source than riding along with the King, Vanmarcke is only 23 yo, he still have a lot of years and a lot to learn. Learn from the best, and you will become the best. ;)

There have been rumours about Breschel returning to SBTB. Nuyens+Breschel could be a good duo as well

Great to see Michael Mathews on board at GE, I don't think he will be groomed as a pure sprinter, he will probably be somewhere between Goss and Albasini. I think you are being a bit hard on Howard, his main aim for the year was the World Champs with Cam Meyer and he didn't really start doing any road rides of significance till California. For someone who was insipid, it wasn't a bad effort to finish pretty close to Sagan and Haussler in 2 or 3 stages. He looked to be doing a fair bit of the grunt work at the Eneco Tour, so I think it would be worth giving him a full off season to prepare for the road properly.

If any of the two oldies go it would most likely be Dean with O'Grady ready to do another Tour next year. Hard to say if Dean will carry on after his horrendous injury this year and we might see how he performs at the Vuelta in the coming weeks. They both do quite different jobs, so I see no problem in keeping them both. With so many young riders, it is important to keep some old, wise heads around the place.

Travis Meyer is a difficult one as all teams have to have some pure domestiques and only the riders and sports directors themselves will know if they are adding value to the team. Plus wage wise, you need to have some of these riders in the team to balance wages, can't have all superstars. How does Travis Meyer rate against other riders ranked 25-30 in their teams?

Btw, I think Davis has had a great season with plenty of top 5 finishes and finding himself in plenty of hilly finishes. His best chance for a win was stolen by his teammate Impey :) Watch out for him at the Vuelta
